Why don't I hear incoming call and text message notifications while I'm in a call?

If your phone is running Android 7.1, it will automatically enable Do not disturb mode while you're in a call.
Note: You will still hear incoming call and text message notifications when you're in a call and your phone is in speakerphone mode or you're using the supplied earphones.

If you want to hear notifications for reminders, events, incoming calls, and text messages while in a call, you can adjust the Do not disturb settings.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Sound & notification > Do not disturb.
  3. Tap Priority only allows.
  4. To hear reminder and event notifications, tap the On/Off switches next to Reminders and Events.
  5. You can also do the following:
    • Tap Messages from to choose whether to hear text message notifications from Contacts only, Favorites only, Approved contacts only, or Anyone.

Similarly, tap Calls from to choose whether to hear incoming call notifications from Contacts only, Favorites only, Approved contacts only, or Anyone.
