Focusing and zooming

Before taking a photo or video, adjust the focus, exposure, and zoom ratio.
Note: These settings may not be available in certain capture modes.
  • Focus and exposure

In capture modes such as Photo and Video modes, the camera automatically focuses when you point the camera at your subject.

You can also do the following:
    • Auto focus on another subject. Just tap the subject.
    • Auto adjust exposure. Tap a dark area to brighten it, or tap an overexposed area to darken it.
    • Manually adjust exposure. Tap the screen, and then drag your finger up or down to increase or decrease exposure.
  • Zoom ratio

The main and ultra-wide, depth-sensing cameras provide digital zoom. The telephoto camera provides 2x optical zoom and hybrid zoom beyond 2x. Hybrid zoom is a combination of optical zoom and digital zoom, which provides enhanced zooming.

In capture modes that support zooming, do any of the following:

    • On the Viewfinder screen, slide two fingers apart to zoom in or together to zoom out. You can also freely zoom in or out while recording video.
    • Tap the button that shows the zoom ratio you want to use such as 1x zoom ratio button or 2x zoom ratio button.
    • Tap the 1x zoom ratio button or 2x zoom ratio button button until a zoom bar appears, and then drag the slider to gradually increase or decrease the zoom ratio.
Note: This will change the 2x zoom ratio button button to the zoom ratio that you've set.
