Connecting to a Wi‍-Fi network

To use Wi‍-Fi, you need access to a wireless access point or “‍hotspot”.
Note: The availability and strength of a Wi‍-Fi signal varies depending on objects the Wi‍-Fi signal has to pass through (such as buildings or a wall between rooms).
  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings > Network & internet.
  2. Tap the Wi-Fi On/Off switch to turn it on, and then tap Wi-Fi.

The Wi‍-Fi screen will be displayed, which lists detected Wi‍-Fi networks.

  3. Tap a Wi‍-Fi network you want to connect to.
  4. If you selected a secured network, enter the network key or password.
  5. Tap Connect.

The Wi‍-Fi network settings will be saved. The Wi‍-Fi icon (2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network icon or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network icon) will be displayed in the status bar.

Tip:
  • The number shown on the Wi‍-Fi icon indicates whether you've connected to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network.
  • You can save several Wi‍-Fi network connections. To switch to a different Wi‍-Fi network, tap Saved networks on the Wi‍-Fi screen and then select the network you want to connect to.
  • When you don't need to use Wi‍-Fi, open the Quick Settings panel and turn Wi‍-Fi off to save battery life. See Using Quick Settings.
