How do I set up my SD card as portable storage?

If your SD card is used as internal storage, follow the steps below to change it to portable storage.

Important: Before you continue, make sure you've moved your installed apps and content from your SD card back to the phone storage. To find out how, see How do I move apps and content from my SD card to the phone storage?.

1. From the Home screen, tap Settings > Storage.
2. Under Device storage, tap the name of your SD card.
3. Tap > Format as portable, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
