What is Smart Lock and how do I use it?

Smart Lock gives you a faster way of unlocking your phone than entering a password, PIN, or pattern. You can set up your phone to detect a trusted device, place, or your voice and automatically unlock the screen. This is a good alternative to add if you often forget passwords.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Do one of the following:
   • Tap Security & location.
   • Tap Security.
3. Tap Screen lock, and then select and set up a screen lock. This will be your backup screen lock method.
4. Under Device security, tap Smart Lock.
5. Confirm your screen lock.
6. Choose what you want your phone to detect before it unlocks.
7. Follow the onscreen instructions.
