Camera basics

Take photos, videos, and selfies using the camera.
On the Home screen, tap the camera icon to open the Camera app.

Zooming

Before taking a photo or video, slide two fingers apart on the Viewfinder screen to zoom in or together to zoom out. You can also freely zoom in or out while recording.

Choosing a capture mode

By default, the Camera app is set to normal capture mode for taking photos and changing photo settings. You can select panorama mode to capture sweeping views of landscapes.
Note: Some camera features and photo settings are not available when you’re in panorama mode.
While on the Viewfinder screen:
  • Tap to switch to panorama mode.
  • Tap to switch back to normal mode.

Turning the camera flash on or off

Important: Make sure you're in normal capture mode. See Choosing a capture mode for details.
Tap the flash icon to choose a flash setting.

Setting the photo resolution

Important: Make sure you're in normal capture mode. See Choosing a capture mode for details.
  1. On the Home screen, tap the camera icon to open the Camera app.
  2. Tap .
  3. Tap then select any of the following:
    • To change the photo quality and size select Picture size.
    • To change the aspect ratio select Preview size.

Choosing a scene mode

You can switch to Night, Sports, or any of the other scene modes to match your camera's settings to specific scenes or conditions when taking photos.
Important: Make sure you're in normal capture mode. See Choosing a capture mode for details.
  1. On the Home screen, tap the camera icon to open the Camera app.
  2. Tap .
  3. Tap > Scene mode then select the mode you want to use.
To have the camera automatically choose settings for the environment, select Auto.
