How does App standby in Android 6.0 save battery power?
Apps that are idle while the screen is on will be placed in App standby mode to help save battery power.
An app goes into App standby mode under the following conditions:
- You're not charging the phone.
- You haven't opened or used the app for a few days.
- There are no foreground activities running. For example, the app is not playing music or streaming content.
- The app doesn't have pending notifications.
During App standby, an idle app will have network access at least once a day. Activities such as app syncing will be deferred until network access is available.
