For phones with
Android 5 Lollipop or higher, Device Protection may be enabled, which means that after the factory reset, you'll need to sign in using the same
Google Account that was logged into on your phone.
Any
Google Account that was signed in on the phone prior to the factory reset will let you pass the Identity Verification step.
If you forgot your Google Account password, use your computer web browser and go to www.google.com/accounts/recovery to reset your password first.
If you know the login credentials for your Google Account but still cannot move past the Identity Verification screen, ensure the phone is on an active internet connection.
To connect to Wi-Fi, tap the BACK button until the Wi-Fi connection option appears. Connect to a Wi-Fi network, then continue to the Google Account Verification screen and enter your details.
Note: Some Wi-Fi networks, especially public Wi-Fi networks provided by hotels or other businesses, require additional login via a browser, which cannot be accessed until the phone is unlocked. If the current Wi-Fi network requires browser login, please connect to a different network for unlocking the phone.
