What's the Ethernet port used for?

The Gigabit Ethernet port lets you share your mobile data connection with Ethernet-enabled devices over a wired network connection. You might want to use Ethernet to connect high-bandwidth devices, share your Internet connection using a switch or router, or connect devices that don't support wireless connections.
You can connect devices such as:
  • Desktop PCs
  • Smart TVs
  • Gaming consoles
  • Routers and network switches

Some things to keep in mind when using Ethernet:

  • Make sure to use at least a Cat 5e or higher Ethernet cables for maximum speeds. Older cables may work, but might slow down your network .
  • If you are connecting HTC 5G Hub‍ to a router or switch to share your Internet connection with many devices, such as a home network, make sure to connect HTC 5G Hub‍ to the port labeled WAN or Internet on your other device.
  • If you're using a router, switch, or splitter; make sure it supports Gigabit Ethernet for best speeds. Ethernet connections are only as fast as the devices connected to them.
  • Ethernet cables should be no longer than 100 meters (328 feet). If you need longer distances, make sure to use a router, switch, or powered bridge between the cables.
