Camera basics

Take photos, videos, and selfies using the camera.
On the Home screen, tap the camera icon to open the Camera app.

Zooming

Before taking a photo or video, slide two fingers apart on the Viewfinder screen to zoom in or together to zoom out. You can also freely zoom in or out while recording.

Choosing a capture mode

Switch to a capture mode to use for taking photos or videos.
  1. On the Home screen, tap the camera icon to open the Camera app.
  2. On the Viewfinder screen, you can:
    • Tap to switch to the front camera to take a photo/video selfie, or tap to switch back to the main camera.
    • Tap or to quickly switch between Photo and Video modes.
    • Press and hold , and then swipe upwards to to switch to Panorama mode.

Turning the camera flash on or off

Tap > Flash, and then choose a flash setting.
When you've switched to the front camera, tap > Selfie Flash to choose a selfie flash setting.

Setting the photo quality and size

  1. Switch to Photo mode. See Choosing a capture mode for details.
  2. Tap .
  3. Tap Picture size to choose a photo resolution.
  4. Tap Picture quality to choose a photo quality.

Choosing a scene mode

Choose a scene mode that best suits the lighting conditions, scenery, or types of subject you're photographing.
  1. On the Home screen, tap the camera icon to open the Camera app.
  2. Choose whether to use the main or front camera to take photos. See Choosing a capture mode for details.
  3. Tap , and then select a mode such as Night, Sports, or any other mode that suits your needs.

Applying a filter

Use the available filters to make your photos and videos look like they've been taken through special lenses.
Choose a filter first before you start taking a photo or video.
  1. On the Viewfinder screen, tap to open the filters menu.
  2. Scroll through the available filters and then choose one that you like.
  3. Swipe left to close the filters menu.
