What is 802.11ad?

802.11ad is a faster wireless networking standard that uses different frequencies from Wi‍-Fi®. It uses 60 GHz frequencies to transmit super fast data over short distances. HTC 5G Hub‍ can create an 802.11ad hotspot that supports up to four devices at a time. You might want to use 802.11ad hotspot for data-intense applications like 4K video streaming or VR.
Some things to keep in mind with 802.11ad:
  • 802.11ad signals are line-of-sight. Anything between HTC 5G Hub‍ and your device could cause weak or lost signal.
  • 802.11ad hotspot consumes power. Make sure to turn it off when you're not using it to save battery.
