HTC Corporation, a global leader in Extended Reality and smartphones, is dedicated to bettering humanity through technology and sustaining our planet for future generations. Today, HTC is excited to share its ESG achievements for the first half of 2024, particularly in supply chain climate engagement and carbon management.
Carbon Reduction Strategies and ActionsHTC has implemented six carbon reduction strategies to manage and adapt to climate change, aiming for net-zero emissions. These strategies include carbon management and policies, low-carbon operations, low-carbon products, low-carbon transportation, value chain engagement, and carbon offsets. In early 2024, HTC expanded Greenhouse Gas Emission inventory to all subsidiaries, launched a low-carbon process and supply chain transformation plan, and optimized energy management. HTC also released a 3rd party verified carbon footprint report for its latest XR headset, VIVE XR Elite, revealing total lifecycle emissions of 92.64 kgCO2e. Additionally, HTC increased the use of low-carbon sea and rail transport for shipping its products.
Supply Chain Engagement and Carbon Management PlatformTo reduce environmental impact, companies need to work with supply chain members to measure and mitigate climate risks. In early 2024, HTC launched its Supply Chain Engagement and Carbon Management Platform projects, helping ten local suppliers build their carbon inventory capabilities and set carbon reduction targets and actions. As a result, HTC strengthened the climate management capabilities of its supply chain partners and introduced a new supply chain carbon management system. This system allows for collecting and managing carbon emissions across the supply chain using lifecycle assessment (LCA) methods. With this system, HTC aims to reduce value chain carbon emissions by 25% by 2030, using 2021 as the baseline.
Recognition and AwardsHTC’s sustainability achievements have been recognized by multiple independent organizations. In March 2024, CDP named HTC as an A-level leader in its 2023 Supplier Engagement Rating (SER), the highest honor granted to only 450 of 11,500 companies worldwide. Additionally, HTC was selected for the FTSE4Good Index Series for the third consecutive year, receiving the highest ratings in the Environmental Supply Chain, Social Supply Chain, and Corporate Governance categories. HTC also received the EcoVadis Silver Medal for the third year in a row, ranking in the top 15% of over 130,000 companies globally, and the top 2% in sustainable procurement within its industry.
Past Achievements and Ongoing CommitmentsIn 2023, HTC released its first standalone TCFD report, proactively disclosing its risks and opportunities regarding climate change. The company has also committed to net-zero with SBTi and set a clear short-term and long-term target for all scopes.
As always, HTC remains committed to driving forward sustainability initiatives, working towards a net-zero future, and creating a more habitable world for everyone.
