In the world of extended reality (XR), HTC stands out not only for its innovation but also for its commitment to sustainability. HTC recently received several awards for its efforts in ESG, marking significant progress towards a greener, more sustainable future.
National Sustainability Development Award
Firstly, HTC is proud to announce its win of the National Sustainability Development Award (NSDA) in the Enterprise category. This marks HTC's first national-level recognition for sustainability. The award will be presented during the National Sustainable Development Award Ceremony on November 30, 2023, with Mr. Chen Chien-jen, Premier of the Executive Yuan, officiating.
The NSDA Awards, organized by the National Development Council of the Executive Yuan, aims to commend organizations for their commitment to sustainability and encourage broader societal engagement in environmental issues. Out of 121 applicants, 35 organizations were selected as winners after a rigorous three-stage selection process.
HTC's sustainability efforts stood out during the selection process, with notable initiatives including its monthly one-hour lights-out program, its voluntary publication of the stand-alone TCFD report, and its commitment to the SBTi for net-zero. HTC's energy-efficient VR products, high percentage of recyclable materials in packaging, and contributions to VR education were also noted.
Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards
At the 16th Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA), HTC was awarded the prestigious Platinum Grade in the Information and Communication Industry - Second Category, following its Silver Grade recognition in 2022. This recognition illustrates HTC's ongoing dedication to environmentally responsible operations.
Additionally, HTC received the Individual Performance award in Information Security Leadership, demonstrating its commitment to safeguarding sensitive information. These awards, which are linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflect HTC's holistic approach to corporate responsibility.
ESG Report Award
HTC's commitment to transparency and accountability was further highlighted by its winning the ESG Report Award during the 2023 ESG Awards hosted by SGS Taiwan. HTC was among 15 companies honored, joining the ranks of TSRC, Pacific Sogo Department Store, Unimicron Technology, Systex, and Far Eastern Department Store, to name just a few. This recognition underscores HTC’s dedication to producing comprehensive ESG reports in line with globally recognized standards.
