Backup and Transfer

HTC Backup for Android 5 Lollipop and earlier

Older HTC phone models that have Android 5 Lollipop and earlier still support the HTC Backup service.

Here's what can be backed up:

Home screen Home wallpaper, widgets, and home screen layout.
Accounts and passwords Stores the login credentials for many popular email and social network accounts, such as Exchange ActiveSync, Outlook.com, and POP/IMAP.
App list Free apps you installed. App screen's grid size and sort order.
Apps settings and data Data from HTC apps which include contacts, text messages, and call history.
Device settings Ringtones, Wi‍-Fi networks and their passwords, and certain device settings.
Important: Using a Wi‍-Fi connection is recommended. Depending on the amount of content, doing a manual backup through data connection may incur additional data costs and take a long time.
  1. Go to Settings, and then tap Backup & reset.
  2. If this is your first time to set up and use HTC Backup, tap Backup account > HTC Account.

Log in to your HTC Account by using your Google, Facebook, or email account. Then choose the cloud storage account you want to use for backing up your phone.

  3. Tap Back up now to manually back up your phone.
It's recommended you do a daily backup of your phone when it's connected to a Wi‍-Fi network. Just turn on automatic backup.
