I can't connect with Bluetooth

You may be experiencing any of these issues:

  • Your phone cannot pair with another Bluetooth device.
  • A Bluetooth service is not available when you pair with a Bluetooth device.
  • Your phone's Bluetooth service does not turn on.

Connecting to a new Bluetooth device can resolve some connection issues. Follow these steps to pair your phone with another Bluetooth device:

  1. Turn Bluetooth on.
  2. Go to Settings and tap to enable Bluetooth.
  3. Place the Bluetooth device you are wanting to connect to in discoverable/pairing mode.
(See the manufacturer's user guide or quick start guide on how to do this.)
  4. Scan for devices to connect to:
  5. Navgiate to Settings > Bluetooth and tap Scan for devices.
  6. Tap a discovered device with which you would like to pair with.
  7. Tap to confirm the Bluetooth Pairing when prompted. Some Bluetooth accesories (such as car kits) will require confirmation as well on their end.
  8. Type the PIN and tap OK if prompted. Some default PINs are 0000 and 1234. If needed, check the manufacturer's user guide to confirm the pairing process.
If a device is paired to multiple bluetooth accessories and can't pair to a new one, try removing the existing pairings and try the setup process again.
If the device is still not pairing to the accessory, try pairing with another Bluetooth accessory if possible.

Removing the Bluetooth profile of a paired device can solve some Bluetooth connection issues. Follow these steps to remove a Bluetooth profile:

  1. Check for compatibility with the accessory manufacturer and what profiles the p[hone uses.
  2. Check the pairing services on the device.
Settings > Bluetooth > Tap and hold the device name you are connected to > Options...
  3. Check if the service you want is listed.
NOTE: If the option does not appear then the service may not be available for the accessory or there may be a compatibility conflict. Check with the Bluetooth accessory manufacturer for compatibility with your phone.
  4. Unpair the accessory from the device.
Settings> Bluetooth > Tap and hold the device name you are connected to > Unpair.
  5. Refer to the user manual of the Bluetooth accessory; the manual will describe any additional procedures for removing existing profiles.

A factory data reset can also resolve some software issues. See How to factory reset a device.
