How do I manage the "Tell HTC" feature for error reporting?

The Tell HTC feature provides a way to send HTC useful information when you experience a software error or crash.

NOTE: The information provided to HTC is not personally identifiable. It is only used for resolving equipment issues and creating a better customer experience. The information is not used outside of the troubleshooting needs.

When a system issue or crash is detected, the phone displays a pop-up dialog box in case you want to send a message directly to HTC. Follow these steps to write your message via the dialog box:

  1. Select Tell HTC.
  2. Enter in a description of the issue you encountered (optional).
  3. Check the box to send location data (optional).
  4. Check the I agree box on the privacy statement.
NOTE: To review the full privacy statement or additional FAQs, select Privacy Statement when you see a Tell HTC message.
  1. Tap Accept to the privacy statement.
  2. Tap Send.

Follow these steps to change how HTC Tell works:

  1. In the Home screen, press the MENU button.
  2. Navigate to Settings > About phone > Tell HTC.
  3. You can now change how HTC Tell works, using these options:

Report Errors to HTC: Toggle the check box to turn HTC Tell on and off.
Report preference: Select Automatically send error report or Ask me each time before sending (on by default) to determine whether HTC Tell notifies you before sending a report.
Network preference: Select When data connection is available or When Wi-Fi or cable connection is available to determine which network HTC Tell uses to send a report.
