HTC Inspire 4G™ (AT&T) Application Security Update

***Important: This security update requires your device to be on Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). This security update will not work on previous versions of Android and can render your device inoperable if applied to the wrong software version.***


  • To verify that your device is on the current software, please navigate to Settings > About phone > Software information. Verify that your Software number is 3.20.502.52.
  • To update your device please navigate to Settings > AT&T software update > Check for updates.

Overview:
A security update is available to your device via application download. This will not remove any personal data from your device. Please follow the instructions to install this security update.

Instructions:

1. Tap each link below and download one at a time. For each link you will see the "Starting download" notification and a download icon in your Notifications bar at top of screen.

2. Press the Home key to return to the Home screen.
3. Press Menu > Tap Settings > Tap Applications
4. Tap Unknown sources (verify checkmark is present).
5. Press the Home key to return to the Home screen.
6. Tap All apps > Tap Downloads.
7. Tap Inspire_MMS.apk and follow installation instructions.
8. Return to Downloads.
9. Repeat steps 6-8 for Inspire_HTCSoundRecorder.apk, Inspire_WeatherProvider.apk and Inspire_WeatherSyncProvider.apk.

Note: HTC STRONGLY recommends navigating back to Menu > Settings > Security and removing the checkmark from "Unknown sources" after security update installation is complete. Failure to follow this step will leave your device vulnerable to potential malicious activities.

10. Press and hold the power key and then tap Restart.

Note: The updated applications will have the following version numbers:
