My browser redirects me to the tethering page when I am not tethering

You may experience any of these issues:

  • Your web browser does not load requested web page, but redirects to a page selling the internet tethering feature. 

  • You receve the message 'Your data plan does not support this device'.

  • You receve the message'Your data plan is incompatible with this device'.

  • You receve the message'Your line does not have a data plan'.

  • You receve the message'You need to add a data plan'.

Resetting your phone's Access Point Name settings may solve the issue. Follow these steps to reset the APN settings to default:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Wireless & networks.
    NOTE: This path varies on different software versions.
  2. Verify that the Airplane Mode or Flight Mode check box are cleared.
  3. If you see a Mobile Network check box, verify it is selected.
  4. Tap Mobile Networks.
  5. If you see the following check boxes, verify they are selected:

    Data Enabled
    Use Packet Data
    Data Roaming

  6. Tap Access Point Names or APNs.
  7. Press the MENU button.
  8. Tap Reset to default.
Reseting your web browswer to default settings may solve the issue. Follow these steps: 
  1. Open your preferred web browser app. 
  2. Navigate to Settings > Advanced > Content settings (if available). 
  3. Select Reset to Default or Reset settings. 
  4. Select Ok. 
Turning on your browser's mobile view may also solve the issue. Follow these steps:
  1. Open your preferred web browser app. 
  2. Tap Menu. 
  3. In the drop-down menu, uncheck View desktop site.
