Using HTC Backup

HTC Backup is a free backup tool included in the HTC One series, designed to make your new phone just like your old phone with just a few steps. It has more than 150 settings, including your BlinkFeed categories, HTC TV remotes and viewing preferences, app grid and home screen layouts, wallpaper, alarms, browser bookmarks, personal dictionary, stocks, weather and world clock cities, Wi-Fi networks, and mail and social network accounts.

You can use HTC Backup to do a daily backup of your phone over Wi‍-Fi. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the HTC Backup app.
  2. Tap Turn on automatic backup.
  3. Make sure Back up phone daily is selected, and then tap Next.
  4. Sign in with your preferred cloud service account account.
  5. On the Cloud storage screen, tap the name of your preferred cloud service, and then tap OK.
  6. If prompted, sign in with your preferred cloud service account account.
  7. To do a daily backup, make sure the Automatic backup switch is on. You can also tap Back up now to manually back up your phone anytime.
NOTE: Depending on the amount of content, doing a manual backup through data connection may incur additional data costs and take a long time. Using a Wi‍-Fi connection is recommended.
If you backed up your phone previously, you can restore your backup to your existing phone or to a new HTC phone. Follow these steps:
  1. Select Restore from HTC Backup on the Get content from old phone screen.
  2. Sign in using the same account that you used to back up your phone before. Your backup history will display.
  3. Select a backup, and then tap Next.
  4. Sign into any cloud service accounts you used to back up your phone.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to restore your backup and to continue setting up your phone.
  6. Slide open the Notifications panel to check if there are any further steps required to finish setting up your phone.
NOTE: Restoring a backup will overwrite the current data and settings on your phone. Free apps from Google Play will be restored in the background, but paid apps must be re-downloaded and installed from Google Play. The Apps and Home screen shortcuts will be reorganized as in your backup after all of your apps have been installed. If some apps or settings are not restored, see My backup didn't restore all my apps/settings.
