Almost all RUU errors can be resolved. When an error occurs, the utility will display an error message and provide recovery measures to allow you to continue the update process. Follow the steps below if you encounter any of these error messages:
ERROR [110]: FILE OPEN ERROR:
This error message indicates that the RUU lacks some specific files or they are damaged, so the RUU cannot continue with the update. Delete the RUU and Download it again, and once the download has finished, try running again.
NOTE: Anti-Virus/Security Software is usually the root cause of corrupt or damaged RUUs.
ERROR [120]: MAIN BATTERY POWER:
This error message will appear when your phone’s battery power is not sufficient (battery power should be more than 30%). Although RUU will instruct you to plug in the AC adapter, it will still need to make sure that your phone has enough power to complete the update.
NOTE: The Android phone cannot charge the battery when it is connected to the PC while installing the RUU. If the phone does not boot properly, you can power the phone off using the “Power Down” or “Power Off” option in the Fastboot menu. Once the phone is off, connect to AC Adapter to charge the phone, and once charged follow the steps on how to boot into Bootloader/Hboot. See How to use the bootloader.
ERROR [130]: MODEL ID ERROR & ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR:
One of these error messages will appear when you use the wrong RUU to do the update. The RUU will check if the Model ID and Language ID are compatible with your Android phone.
ERROR [155~159]: IMAGE ERROR:
One of these error messages will appear when you use the incorrect RUU to update and the image file size is larger than the Flash ROM size. In this case, download the correct RUU version and try again.
NOTE: Phones perform updates in steps; if a step has been skipped you may see this error code. If this error code has been received, please verify the correct RUU for your device is being used, try re-downloading the RUU, and attempt the update again. If the error persists, please contact HTC customer support.
ERROR [170]: USB CONNECTION ERROR:
This error message will appear when the Android phone is not correctly connected to the host PC. Make sure the Android phone is connected to the host PC correctly and/or check if the PC driver matches the Android phone.
