This is such an awesome phone! The previous phone I had was the HTC G2 which was significantly heavier and less battery life than this ONE. It was time for me to upgrade and decided on this. I would give it 5 stars, except that it (or at least the one I have) has the annoying habit of randomly locking up and rebooting, thus the one star hit overall and on performance. I think I've narrowed it down to whenever the phone switches connectivity signals (i.e.: from 2G to 3G/4G or Wifi) is mostly when I've seen it lock up.

I'll tell ya what: this 3/8"> thickness phone is on tough smartphone. I'm an industrial electrician that beats the heck out of anything I have on me throughout the day, and the one S is no exception. I'm talking about; rolling on it, dropping it literally DOZENS of times on concrete or watching it tumble from the top of a machine all the way down to the floor...and it still works. It just has scuffs on the corners from impact, and the screen didn't break until some girl at a bar wearing heals stepped on it as she was walking by after I dropped it (The gorilla glass really holds up, and does it's job. Even after that girl at the bar stepped on it, my screen only has one of its corners kinda spider webbed).
I know of two separate times that it locked up on me, and that was in the middle of the night at work both times, and both lockups occurred within the first few weeks I had it (going on a year of ownership now). I think due to the violent abuse this thing has endured- but all of a sudden I'm having intermittent issues with the wifi connectivity at home. I know it's not my router, because my netbook and workstation are both running on my wireless network.
One more thing that I actually am not cool with, and it's been like this from day one: the keyboard really stinks with swype, so I wound up degenerating back to regular typing. But don't worry, because that actually works great, and the voice-to-text is phenomenal even with unusually loud background noise (background noise like driving 65mph in a soft top jeep).
Aside from the wifi issue and the swype (the wifi issue I truely believe can be attributed to physical damage, and the swype issue can easily be resolved by running a different keyboard or just not using swype like me), this thing is a dream come true. I'm constantly looking up spec sheets for parts at work, emailing prints and documents, watching jeep videos, texting, taking amazing pictures and videos, and checking the newsfeed on facebook, and the one S screams SO fast, it's almost like it's a step ahead of me. One more thing that is a life-saving (figuratively) and astounding feature, would be the slow-motion video. I use it probably a few times a month when I'm trying to watch a machine process at work...HUGE HELP. Plus it's a lot of fun recording your buddies in slow-mo and showing them how flawless their golf swing is. Annnnnnyways, totally recommended by a 27 y/o from Chicago.

I am on my second. The first was replaced after two weeks. This one has totally gone # up. Whether I call another cell or a regular land line, there is an echo and sea shell sound. As if it had a mind of its own, the unit rings or just emits a metal to metal sound.
If I had not paid for it up front, I would throw it into the river.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by matt45561 Great device
Sadly I still have the 4.0.4 android and 4.1 HTC Sense on my device from what I view as a T-Mobile issue since HTC has had the Jelly Bean update out for some time. The device has a lot of features and not one of the 3 people in my house has a major problem with the device. There has been some lag when playing games that have made me lose the games I’ve been playing a few times. While HTC sense is great and has a lot of feature I think it could be a little more customizable (maybe by allowing people to make skins or modify parts of skinks by an additional .apk on the phone) and the messaging app could just more feature like the ability to set backgrounds for messaging threads. I also find my phone going into 2G in areas I know are 4G I don’t know if that’s a T-Mobile problem or an HTC problem but overall while I talked mostly about the things I think need more improvement every other thing on the phone is great love the battery life and video quality.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Phonelover Easily Beats Galaxy S III
I absolutely love this phone. it was between this and the galaxy s III for me and i am glad that I went with this. I chose this over the GSIII because the One S had a beautiful design that was far superior of the the galaxies plastic, cheap design. The camera is amazing and all of my friends with iPhone's were jealous that I could take pictures outside, in the dark and that they couldn't! The 4.3 in AMOLED screen is amazing and is the perfect size. Lastly, Beats audio was the main reason for purchasing this phone. I love music and with this phone i can listen to songs crystal clear with my beats!
My one con is that the battery lasts me 10 hours at the most but i do use pandora all the time!

Rated 2 out of 5Â by htcuser2013 A huge disapointment
After a mytouch 4g slide, this is a major disappintment. It seems deaf to the HSPA+ data network, The GPS takes forever to lock in, the flexability of removable memory and battery were sacrificed to make it slightly lighter. While the screen is a little larger, the on screen keyboard still too small for my fat fingers. The camera interface is nice, and the ability to focus at super close up photos is impressive. this might be a good phone for a younger person who is into social connectivity and full media experience, but not for the person that values stand alone independence and ease of repair.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by PeaceEagle I love it!
My first phone was the Nexus One by Google and HTC, later I got the Galaxy Exhibit 4G. Now I have this beautiful phone! It is super fast and thin! Beats Audio makes it perfect for listening to music and with the 16GB* of memory I can definitely put CD quality songs on it to make the experience even better! I can stuff a lot of apps on it as well! Although the front camera is only a VGA, I don't feel down about it because even the iPhone5 has that. On the other hand, the back camera is amazing. 1.5-1.7 Gigahertz processor make it awesome for playing high demand video games such as ShadowGun and others... On the T-Mobile network I have reached download speeds of up to 12 mbps making an awesome web experience. The whole thing is metal therefore making it really strong. I was running once and it fell out of my pocket hitting the ground really hard along with my iPod touch 4th Gen. iPod = destroyed screen. Phone = small dent on the top-right corner. I even had a case on the iPod since I had had it for longer but I was still waiting on a case for the phone. I hate the bloatware from T-Mobile though but as an advanced user, I was able to get rid of it through the rooting process. Easily beats iPhone5 and in my opinion, even the Galaxy S III!

Rated 5 out of 5 Best Cell Phone I've Ever Owned
This phone was easy to use from the moment I got it. Setting up multiple email accounts, social media sites, and getting my contacts onto the phone happened like magic. Since I’m a gmail user, everything just fell into place. My previous phone was an Android OS (Cliq). I didn’t change carriers, so my expectation was just that reception would be as good, if not better, than the Cliq. However, the phone had very poor reception for everything: cell service (T-Mobile); Wi-Fi; Bluetooth; GPS…everything. After a week I took the phone back to T-Mobile and they replaced it, no questions, and the new phone’s reception was better than the Cliq’s.
Once that issue was resolved I really started using more of the features that were on the phone. The Car application is great! No need for a GPS device. Netflix with the wireless Bluetooth stereo headset (which can be used for phone calls as well) is awesome. Video calling via Skype or Google Chat works without any problem.
The only ongoing issue was the Voice Dialer. It had no idea what I’m saying and I swear just made things up. However, that seems to have been fixed as of today (02/22/2013) with an OS update.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by sali2288 GREAT PHONE but.....
This phone is probably the best i have ever owned. It has everyting i would need from speed to customizing. However the battery life is very well iffy. It really depends on what you are going to use your phone for and how long. Over all it is great but i am very disappointed to see that jelly bean is not here for this phone yet. I will definately recommend this phone to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by wcurry5 HTC Future Improvements Needed
HTC Has made a great Smart Phone now they need to make it even better.
1. The battery life is too short.... only after using the radio or Youtube or Listening to music I only get to use my phone for 4 hours than I have to recharge or Plug in a USB Charging device to repower the phone.
2. Also all phone for the future should have quad-core processers giving the user faster upload or download time for social networking.
3. Finally HTC needs to give the user a bigger screen and brighter screen. I would perfer a screen at leasst as big as the Samsung Note 2 or even bigger.
Apple lost over 30 million dollars in sales last year I am sure those customers went to Samsung and HTC. Most HTC Users are as loyal as Apple customers and if HTC wants to increase sales they have to give their users more.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by Alavna Overshadowed by bugs
I got this phone as a birthday present. First problem I had - back of the case was bowed causing the screen to lift up. 3 months later I got it back to find it plagued with the helicopter/home button bug. Made the phone unusable. After a major update the bug happens rarely but now its been replaced with some more. Google voice keeps activating while I am doing things, again making it unusable. Keyboard is laggy, as if the phone cannot keep up, even with no other apps running. Combined with the Google voice bug it randomly calls people, never connects but will keep doing it. If these bugs happen while playing music it slows down and sound like an old scratched CD. Within the last few months the phone has become extremely slow to respond which was one of the reasons I upgraded from my 2 year old desire. This phone isn't even 1 year old and its running worse than my desire.. and now onto the case. Scratched within the first few hours, wasn't dropped, just from sitting on different surfaces. Bought a case because it looks so ugly now.. battery life is horrible, at first it was just from internet but as times gone on even basic constant use drains it. Extremely disappointed in HTC for developing such a buggy phone. Now having to look for a new one its so bad. This phone is not worth the money

My first HTC was the HTC Sensation I was fascinated and shortly was obsessed with the phone, then I found out HTC was coming out with a new phone. Instantly I was online finding out everything I could about it, as soon as it was possible I had the HTC ONE S! I love everything about it and everything it dose, I recommend this phone to everyone possible, my best friend actually bought the ONE S at the very same time. She also loves it too! I found out about the HTC ONE and instantly called T-Mobile to find out as much as I could, after that online researching the phone! HTC did it again and I can not wait to get this phone in my hands and show it off, and shut everyone with the new IPhone down!!!!!!!

This is my first HTC Phone but it will not be my last - Love the phone - good power and no lag when running apps, camera etc. The Camera is (i find) alot better than some of the rating sites give it. Even with the case mate cover on it it is still tinner than alot of phones out there.
Bad point - i have the black version and while it looks and feels great do not put it in a pocket along with coins etc as the cover gets all scraped very quickly...

The greatest phone I have ever had. Was waiting and waiting to get it and now that I have it I just can't put it down. I have had phones before that I thought were fast but this is just amazing. I have always Sense and think it just fits in perfect with Android. Can't wait to get JB and the New Sense 5. Hopefully it comes soon.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Deph Great Phone but has some short commings
The Camera at the time of HTC one S release was the best on the market. Ease of going from video to camera to video without missing a beat. Zoom range great and adjustment awesome. White balance could be a little better but like I said best on market at time. Issue In flight mode HTC has bug and will not shut off. Must take out of flight mode and then shut off phone. Very Annoying on flights. No warning from phone app if launch Shazam app this will mute mic for phone app althogh you can still hear the caller. Should warn in this situation that mic already in use by another app instead of just taking control. Problem once app shut down no way for phone app to recover use. permanent mute. You have to hang up and re-call. Annoying. HTC had great feature like Genius button that was dropped from HTC line. Poor marketing decision. I am a 2G, 3G, and 4G user of HTC phones and seen the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY from HTC. I could write a lot more but Over all HTC one S is above average phone but not the best anymore.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by RoadWarrior Good slim phone, still could use improvement
This is my second Android device, my first being Samsung I decided to try out a different brand after the Samsung got too old. First, appearance and styling. I'm sort of dissapointed I wasn't able to find a Ceramic Black at my time of purchase and had to make due with the normal blue color. The phone is light and thin, so thin I can put other things in my pocket and at times forget my phone is with me. A problem I have though is the sides are slick, which make one handed use a problem. build quality is good, though the Front Camera is pushed in, which makes dust collect inside and basically makes it useless. I had this problem with my ancient Blackberry Flip and thought phone designers would have learned their lesson by now. Guess the front camera still doesn't matter a whole lot still.
Second the performance. A key reason I got this was for the sound quality, and overall the ONE S delivered. Brighter and clearer than my last phone, good enough for me to get rid of a dedicated MP3 player. The Media Player is hard to navigate unless you have playlists set up. Beats Audio "Enhancer" was horrible when I first got the phone, it made everything quieter when I turned it on but after about a month it started actually making the music sound better and have left it on since. Not really for "audiophiles" but the sound quality is certainly noticeable. Speaker is OK, more on the quiet but clear side. The phone sometimes lags when running a lot of apps, web browser closes when it runs into trouble, but at least the phone never has froze (yet). Camera has issues too, sometimes an object is focused perfectly and when I hit the shutter button, it goes out of focus before taking the shot, also issues of lag too. Sometimes takes up to 2 seconds for a photo and has caused me already to miss one perfect "Kodak moment" Wouldn't call the camera a stand out feature, there are better phones for this. Being a phone with thinness a priority, just keep in mind the ONE S won't be perfect.
Overall it is still a big improvement over my last phone, I am confident it will serve me a long time even though it still has minor quirks.

My phone after having it replace 3 times, still has poor signal after 1 year, the touch response will at times just stop, I have to turn my phone off and restart just to get it to respond.
I was told the phone has nothing to do with my signal, Yet I had the Mytouch 3g and never, never lost signal. I have to go thru a tunnel to work, never lost signal, This phone, I have to go back to old school and tell people, let me call you back, I'm going thru the tunnel. Very Disappointed. The one redeeming factor is the camara, but i would rather have excellent signal

This is one of the only phones I've absolutely loved for more than a few months and have wanted to keep! It's a beautiful phone with an amazing camera and talk about the audio with the headphones! Amazing with Beats Audio! Screen is nice and large enough for me to type with out having to go back and change any letters, and the swype texting makes things even more easier! Love the screen quality as well, the colors just pop and stand out perfectly! I could go on and on about this phone.

There is not doubt that this phone is simply the best one. I am dissatisfied with some of the aspect such as the internal storage(I cannot access or add songs directly into the internal drive of the phone), and its lack of update to Jelly Bean has also somewhat made me feel little bit sad. Battery, screen resolution, graphics, is very good. The design is fabulous and camera is simply very good.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Tran A spectacularly lovely phone!
It's a lovely phone that I have been using for over half a year now. I have had no problems with it, and it had far past my expectations. The camera is great, and the screen is fantastic.
The only problem I would complain about is perhaps the battery life. A charge a night will do, but if you forget your charger or leave it in your car; you won't fair so well. Also the screen could have been just a "bit" bigger, if I needed to criticize it for a little point.
Otherwise, an amazing phone! ~
