My first full function smartphone, amazingly fast, and there are more apps than I will ever need, & probably use. Would prefer more memory free to all the dedicated stuff to apps. Will take time to learn all the bells & whistles. Very expensive, reserving opinion on whether cost is worth it! Also trepidacious about T-mobile's USA presence(staying power).

I got mine the first week that they came out. I have been loving the speed and the camera is amazing. Something broke under the screen yesterday, the screen is blacked out completely. I thought I broke the screen but I took it to the Tmo store and the sales rep said there wasn't a scratch on it but it looked like it was under alot of pressure to break the internal screen. I weigh 240 lbs and have worn Dickies with the cell phone pocket for the last 6 or 8 eight years to work. All I know is the phone was working fine all morning in Stockton and when I was almost home I pulled it out of my pocket to make a call and I couldn't get the screen to come on. I thought it may be rebooting because it does that randomly without warning and I set it aside until I got home. Then I saw what appeared to be hairline cracks in the screen. I sent it to HTC for warranty repair today. I have had some flimsy feeling cellphones that I will admit feeling nervous that they would be damaged in my pocket, but the One S seemed so solid. Guess not. Nice phone if you can carry it in a briefcase or something.

Great speed and battery life, beautiful display and design. I would like to see a higher grade metal for the chassis as it does dent easy (dent from the tooth of a dog on the top) and wish it had NFC

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Gabe An amazing smart phone!
I love this phone, let me start by saying this phone just screams quality in every way. When you hold it you can just feel how solidly built it is, even more so when you use it. It is just a solid block of quality, no android brand does this better than HTC, this holds true for the one s!. No plastic, cheap feel here!.
It's the perfect size for my personal taste, 4-4.3 inches is the sweet spot for a smartphone imo. Still feels good and comfortable in the hand and provides a large, beautiful viewing screen. The sound quality is the best I've ever heard from a digital device period, the beats integration is awesome. The camera quality is superb, with crisp and clear pictures.
I'll finish by saying that I am very happy with my HTC one s. Glad I chose this android model.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Marty HTC One S, the perfect smartphone
So, I was a little iffy on buying this phone. This would be my first smartphone, but I have beenshopping around for many months. I was trying to find the perfect smartphone that fit all my needs. When I heard about this phone, I was dead-set on buying it.
This phones got it all, FM radio, great sound, great camera, and a very unique interface courtesy of HTC Sense. I had the impression I'd have to install third party apps for things like Calanders, Calculators, To-Do Lists, ect. With HTC Sense, I did not have to install any third party aps besides games. The Keyboard and everything about HTC Sense is great. It is so fluid that I did not even question the CPU speed because everything loaded/ processed so quick with no slowdown or freezes. I also really like the design, I got the unlocked micro arc oxidation one. The treatment makes the phone feel premium and gives it an amazing look.
Overall, HTC gives you not just an awsome phone, but they optimize it with many software features. Their ae probly still stuff I haven't found yet. HTC is truely worth your money and I can recommend them to anyone looking for a quality smartphone.

I have this phone for about a week or so and have to say it is by far the fastest and cleanest running phone I have ever had. Does way more than I expected!!
I was a bit concerned about the internal battery and internal non expandable sd card, but the phone handles all my apps and runs great just as it is. The battery life like all phones using multiple apps, is diminished, but that is to be expected...
All in all, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Raem Perfection when it comes to size
for me a mobile is something you can fit easily in your hand and in your pocket and that is why i went with the one s instead of the x and i am glad i have. the phone delivers excellence in terms of design, screen, camera and apps and has a long battery life as well. by far the best phone by htc.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by 2BAD S3 joke, no signal after 6 hours from purchase
I could start by saying the one s looks extraordinary, it's a joy to look at and it feels great in the hand with superb weight distribution and a pretty good grip because of the anodization process.
BUT what i found out later is that my one s has a s3 processor instead of the s4 and an adreno 205 instead of 225, which translates to poor battery life, overheating when performing the simplest of tasks and a more sluggish response when opening certain apps, even the camera.
My retailer never said anything about the phone having the s3 instead of the s4. HTC should never advertise a phone with certain hardware and then change that hardware because it isn't in enough supply.
HOWEVER this is not the main issue i have with this phone. A few hours after i bought the phone it lost its signal and no matter what i tried i couldn't get it to recover the signal.Tomorrow I am going to try and replace the phone, or maybe get something else.
I am very disappointed with the phone even though it is very beautiful...it just isn't what it was advertised to be.

I enjoyed getting this phone. Knowing that it'd be a big improvement on the camera and the thin body compared to the mytouch 4g. If you have the settings just right, you can use this phone for up to 15 hours! I love it! I love that I can use it as an mp3 player including the beats audio. I totally recommend you picking up this phone!

I've had this phone since the first week of June and let me tell you, this is THEE BEST PHONE that I've had so far. I can't see how you can out beat the HTC One S, unless HTC comes out with a new phone that has a laser/holographic keyboard or something. the clarity in the audio is amazing and the camera is a complete world of its own. any phone that can take 20 pictures in 5 seconds is an A+++ in my book, and the fact that you can record videos and take pictures at the same time? and record slow motion videos? that's just too awesome. HTC completely satisfied us with this "One".

It's 2 days I have bought my One S and it is working great. every thing is fine but there are some bad things. There is no SD card support. Battery is not changeable by owner.
But in my opinion there is one thing that I think it is a problem. The speaker sound is weak!

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Zenith Great phone but problems
The first one i got had a problem connecting to the network, everytime id get a call i could answer it but it would loose connection instantly. I went back to the Tmobile store and exchanged it for another one and it has a serious over heating problem as compared to the first one, also whenever i exit any sort of app it has to load the home screen, which the first one didnt, and it has trouble connecting to any signal. Its a great device but not a phone since it cant connect.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by FearAndLoathing Not impressed
This phone does not live up to any of the expectations that i have of HTC's products. My last 3 phones have been HTC, and this one is by far the worst one.
While out of the box it looks like a polished diamond on the outside, but further use proved it to be a polished lump of coal. The day i began to use it i was searching the internet for a case for the thing, (as holding onto its slippery outer skin can prove to be quite a challenge# and i looked on the underside to see multiple scuff marks on the finish already. It wasn't a rough surface or anything, just a wooden tabletop. Definately get a case if you are to buy this one. And the incredible Gorilla Glass is not "all that" either. I have never broken a screen on any of my electronics before....this one was cracked within the first month. Getting a big, bulky protective case sure takes away from the nice thin profile....
It has lag problems sometimes with loading apps #as well as the home screen) and the buttons become unresponsive at times. Lack of external SD card is a big downer, and lack of access to the battery also makes the rediculously short battery life THAT MUCH worse. It seems like it is constantly emitting that obnoxious low battery beep. So it's like it is constantly on the charger. Previously i have had strictly no-contract phones almost specifically for this reason...worst-case, i only have to deal with it for a month. So this is my first contract phone. Ugh, what did i get myself into?

Rated 5 out of 5Â by thecollector1992 First Smartphone
The HTC One S is my first smartphone, however, I am not new to Android (I taught my parents how to use their own smartphones). For me, this is a major upgrade and even though I contemplated getting a smartphone for a couple years I finally took the plunge and I am extremely pleased. The One S is speedy and reliable. I have had no software hiccups or bugs come up since I purchased it in May 2012. The 1.5Ghz dual-core processor is fast and makes every task a quick task. I am very glad that the One S has Android 4.0 with Sense 4.0 as it has proven itself reliable and useful. Sense 4.0 is a big difference from previous versions which is being more useful and less obtrusive, making it a bit closer to stock Android, but not quite there. The screen is nice, but it uses a PenTile display, which can cause some images to look jagged edged, but it not a big deal unless you are extremely picky about it, which is understandable. The resolution is good enough, being 960x540, which videos do actually look good on, even with a smaller pixel density (256ppi) compared to some other leading smartphones. The camera is excellent. Although I have an excellent compact interchangeable lens camera, it is nice to know my pocketable phone can take great photos. The camcorder also records good videos as well, with great detail and sharpness. The front camera is not that good, but for video chat I feel it would be good enough. The phone has only 16GB, which is not expandable unfortunately, it is still enough for a good number of apps and lots of music, but beware storing a massive movie or video on it. The Beats Audio I found to be kind of neat. I am not sure if it really does make a great difference, but I could tell there was some extra clarity and deeper bass. The battery life is pretty good for a smartphone. I found with regular use, which is browsing the web a bit and playing a few games, the battery can last over a day, but on day 2 be ready to recharge it. With minimal use, which includes only calling someone a couple times and maybe checking sports scores, I got it to last for almost three days. And lastly, I want to comment on the design of the One S, which I find is very neat and cool. It doesn't look like every other smartphone, which tends to be a black plastic and glass slab. Being made of aluminum and glass it doesn't feel cheap at all, and it is fairly sturdy. Overall the HTC One S is an excellent phone, and you won't be disappointed with it.

I am not happy with this phone at all, it heats up very quickly, the touch screen is to touchey, I find I'm calling people that I didn't want to. and too many icons very unnessary tring to text the letters are too close, so you have to buy that special pen another cost to you, and even with the pen your still fighting to text.

I must say, like many others, I'm disappointed about no expandability of the memory.
I purchased Dr. Dre urbeats earphones and the sound is awesome. Never heard such excellent quality from any earbuds or cell phone. It's like listening to a stereo system or being in the studio. The bass and volume is incredible. Before I purchased the urbeats earphones, I tried the sound out with my old Sony headphones and there is a big difference in the sound quality. It's much better with audio beats brand ear or head phones and I recommend them to get the best audio beats experience. I love the camera, screen size and color also.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Lain Good, but could be better...
I really like this phone. The screen is great, the build quality is exceptional, and I am a huge fan of sense 4. That said, this phone is not without it's short comings; first of which being battery life. I know there is no revolutionary battery technology on the market so why not just include a bigger battery? Samsung did! A mere 1650mah is just sad. Next would be the multitasking; the reasons I don't care for this are the awful recent apps menu htc decided to implement and the fact that there is no real multitasking. When I go back to apps they always refresh. Multitasking does not mean a quick link back to an app, it means I should be able to pause what I'm doing and come right back to it. One minor pet peeve is text input. The keyboard included in sense is pretty good when typing but htc trace is just a joke. It is completely inaccurate and and editing text is not simple at all. Swype is a good alternative but htc makes it so hard to read the necessary files for a keyboard that any third-party options still perform sub-par. Finally one of the biggest things is nfc. This is supposed to be the flagship htc phone of T-mobile and there is no nfc?! Ridiculous. Bottom line is that they should've launched the One X on every carrier just like samsung did with the GS3 but with the battery of the Evo LTE. Obviously it's possible to have a thin device with a decent battery and nfc, so why not make it for everyone?! Hopefully the rumored One X+ for T-mo will restore my faith in htc, if not I might have to jump ship
