The software upgrade posted below provides several key enhancements for
your HTC Touch Pro2 more
These enhancements are:
- Upgraded OS to Windows Mobile 6.5
- Added HTC Sense UI enhancements
- Improved Social Networking integration
- Includes a variety of minor bug fixes

Please read the following important notes before
starting the upgrade:
Before you proceed, please confirm that this software
upgrade is a newer version than what is currently loaded on your device.
If it is the same version and your device is operating normally, there
is no need to reload the software. To determine what version is running
on your device, refer to the image on the left (the newest version is
pictured) and note the ROM version and Radio version. Next, go to Start
> Settings > Menu > All Settings > System > Device
Information on your device. If your ROM and Radio versions are
different than what is pictured at left, you should upgrade.

Before you run the ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU), make sure you check
and do the following first:

If you are having challenges connecting with ActiveSync,
please try the following on your device: Start > Settings > All
Settings > Connections > USB to PC and de-select "enable faster
data synchronization."
|
|
|
The standby and hibernation modes are disabled on the
computer. Click
here to view instructions on how to do this. If using a laptop,
make sure your laptop is plugged into a power source.
|
|
|
All running applications on the computer have been
closed.
|
|
|
Ensure that your device has a battery level of at least
50%.
|
|
|
The update can take up to 25 minutes so set aside time
when you will not be interrupted.
|
|
|
All data will be deleted from the device during the
upgrade (music, pictures, 3rd party applications, etc). Be sure to back
up all of your data using ActiveSync (Windows Mobile Device Center, if
you are running Windows Vista) prior to upgrading. Click

Information stored on the microSD card will not be
deleted

Do not interrupt the upgrade process or press any buttons
until the process has been completed (the device will reset itself when
the update is done).

General Procedure on Installing the ROM Update
|
WARNING: During the upgrade process, do not
attempt to make/receive calls, press any buttons on your device or
disconnect the device from the USB cable as this will stop the update
and your device will be rendered inoperable!!!
|

WARNING: Users should not attempt to load an older
version of Touch Pro2 software after loading version 2.04.651.4.
Please delete any earlier versions of the Touch Pro2 software you may
have downloaded previously to your PC.

your computer.

SMS TIMESTAMPS DISPLAY AN INCORRECT YEAR
This is a known issue. Please follow the instructions below to download
and install a hotfix that will correct this issue. The hotfix will
resolve the issue causing incoming SMS messages to display the
incorrect year, and it will correct the incorrect year on SMS messages
that were received prior to installing this hotfix. more
How to copy the hotfix to the device

Download the hotfix below and save it to the desktop of your PC
- Verify you have installed and configured the Activesync or Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) software

Place the Touch Pro2 in Airplane Mode by navigating to Start > Comm Manager and tapping on Airplane Mode

Connect the Touch Pro2 to your PC using the supplied USB cable

In Activesync, tap on Explore to bring up the File Explorer window. For
WMDC, tap on File Management then Browse the contents of your device.

If using WMDC, double click on the device memory folder that appears in
the File Explorer screen. This is usually depicted by a backslash icon.
Next, double click on My Documents.

Drag and drop the hotfix file from your Desktop to the File Explorer window
How to install the hotfix on the device

On the device, tap Start > File Explorer

Locate the hotfix file and single tap on it to install

Follow the onscreen prompts to install the hotfix
-
Reboot the device per on-screen instructions to finalize installation

After the device reboots, take the device out of Airplane Mode by
navigating to Start > Comm Manager and tapping on Airplane Mode
NOTES ON THIS HOTFIX
- This hotfix will need to be reinstalled if the device is
hard reset. Also, the hotfix cannot be installed again until the device
is hard reset.
- If any software was installed to bypass
the MCTS functionality of the device, the device may need to be hard
reset prior to this hotfix being installed.
