What is a Soft Reset and how is it performed? more
A soft reset basically resets the memory structure in the handheld. This recovers the device from memory conflicts, corrupted system service chains (mainly due to attempting hacks), memory leaks, and system lockups due to the ""Fatal Exception"" program errors. Removing the battery from the device while it is still powered on is NOT a soft reset and can actually damage the device. A Soft Reset is performed by:
  1. Remove the Stylus.
  2. Remove the battery cover.
  3. Insert the tip of the stylus into the Reset hole located on the back of the device next to the SD Card Slot (the Reset hole is RED).
  4. The device will then go through the Boot process.
Why does my device respond slowly, freeze and sometimes crash? more
The main reason for a device to slow down and crash is the lack of available memory. You will want to free up more memory so that the device can return to normal function. This device offers a few options for managing memory. There is a shortcut for the Task Manager on the upper right corner of the Today screen that allows you to view programs that are currently running and gives you the option to shut them down. There is also an X-Button application that allows you to choose what action is taken when the X button is tapped (minimize or close). To access and change these settings, tap the Task Manager shortcut and choose Options from the drop down. The settings for the X-button can be found on the Button tab. Note: When the “X” Button is not set to end running programs, tapping the “X” button will only minimize the program and it will still be running in the background using Memory. Clear the History and Temp files in your browser: Internet Explorer From within Internet Explorer, go to Menu>Tools>Options. Select Browsing History. To clear the Temp Files, Cookies and History, tap on Clear. Select Yes on the confirmation screen. Soft Reset the device and retest. Opera From the Today Screen, use TouchFLO to access Internet>Launch Browser. Go to Menu>Settings. Tap on Privacy and scroll up on the screen until you see the options. To clear the browser History, tap on Delete History. Tap Yes to confirm. To clear the device cache, tap on Delete Cache. Tap Yes to confirm. To clear the cookies, tap on Delete Cookies. Tap Yes to confirm. Soft Reset the device and retest.
What does a Hard Reset do and how is it performed? more
A Hard Reset restores the device to its default settings — the way it was when you first purchased it and turned it on. Any programs you installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on the device will be lost. Only Windows Mobile software and other pre-installed programs will remain. To perform a hard reset
  1. Power the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Down and the Send and End Buttons at same time.
  3. The screen will instantly show the text to hard reset (this is a white screen with Blue text that provides the next steps to complete the Hard Reset. If you do not get this screen, power the device off and try again).

• Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any additional installed programs and/or user data is backed up before proceeding.
When should I perform a Hard Reset? more
A hard reset basically returns your device RAM to factory conditions, the device is restored to its default settings – the way it was when you first purchased it and turned it on. Any programs you installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on your device will be lost. Only Windows Mobile software and other pre-installed programs will remain. This is a drastic step, and usually only as a result of some kind of hardware failure or gross system error. It should only be taken if nothing else worked to recover your device.
