Sending a Text Message more
Send short text messages (SMS) to other mobile phones. If you exceed the limit on the number of characters for a single text message, your text message will be delivered as one but will be billed as more than one message.
  1. On the Home screen's Messages tab, tap Menu > New.
  2. Fill in one or more recipients. In the To field, you can:
    • Start entering the first few letters of the recipient's name to display a matching list of names from your stored contacts. Each name may have several phone numbers. Tap the number to which you want to send a message.
    • Enter the recipient's mobile phone number, and then tap the Enter key or semicolon key. Repeat this process to type in another number.
    • Address the message to one or more groups of contacts. Tap Menu > Add Recipient, and then tap the Groups tab. Select the check box of one or more groups, and then tap Done. (The message will only be sent to group members whose phone numbers are stored in your contacts.)
  3. Tap the text box that shows "Tap to add text" and then enter your message.
  4. When you have finished composing the message, tap Send.
Using the Camera more

Open your phone's camera and start capturing photos and recording videos. The 5 megapixel auto-focus camera is perfect for capturing the beauty of just about anything, and coupled with a smart LED flash, it's also ideal for capturing images and videos in low-light situations.

  1. On the Home screen, slide to the Photos & Videos tab.
  2. Tap the Camera button to open the camera in Photo mode, or tap the Video button to open the camera in Video mode. The phone screen automatically shifts to landscape view when you open the camera.

You can also open the camera by pressing Start > Camera or Start > Camcorder.

Getting to know the viewfinder
The Camera and Camcorder applications use the phone's screen as viewfinder so you can frame your subjects easily and include all the details you want.

The viewfinder also comes with these control buttons and indicator.

Flashlight. Tap repeatedly to cycle through available flashlight options. You can set the flashlight to automatic, always on, or off. For more information, see Adjusting the Camera Settings.

Virtual Camera. Functions as the shutter release button. Tap this when you are ready to take the shot or to start/stop recording video.

Onscreen control. Tap to display more onscreen controls and adjust basic and advanced camera settings.

Focus indicator. This bracket animates when focusing on your subject, and changes to a steady, rectangular bracket when the focus is set.

Moving closer with zoom
Before you capture a photo or record a video, you can zoom in or out on your subject using the onscreen zoom buttons.

  1. Tap > on the screen to display the zoom indicator at the left side of the screen.
  2. Tap the plus (+) or minus (-) icons to zoom in or out on your subject.

The camera zoom range for a photo or a video depends on the selected capture mode and resolution.

Capturing that first photo or video
After learning how to open the camera, use the controls on the viewfinder, and use the zoom function, you are now ready to take your first shot or record your first video. Refer to the following topics to get you going with the camera:

Closing the camera
While on the live Camera or Camcorder screen, tap the Onscreen control button , and then tap . If you opened Camera from Albums, you are taken back to the Albums program when you tap .

Capturing and Sharing a Photo more

Capture quality still images with your phone's camera and share these memories with friends and family anytime, anywhere you want.

  1. On the Home screen, slide to the Photos & Videos tab.
  2. Tap the Camera button at the top right of the screen.
  3. Point the camera at your subject, and then tap the Virtual Camera button to take the shot.
  4. In the review screen that appears after you take the shot, tap the envelope icon.
  5. Select how you want to share the photo:
    • Upload to Facebook. Upload the photo to your Facebook album.
    • Save to Footprints. Store the photo as a Footprint which you can revisit later using the Footprints application.
    • Send via MMS. Attach the photo to a new multimedia message. See Sending a Multimedia Message for details.
    • Send via Email. Attach the photo to a new email message.
  6. Tap Send, and then follow the onscreen instructions to share your photo.
Adjusting the Camera Settings more

Changing the capture mode
By default, the capture mode is set to either Photo or Video mode, depending on the application that you have selected when you opened the camera. Switch the camera to other capture modes as desired.

  1. On the Home screen, slide to the Photos & Videos tab.
  2. Tap the Camera button or Video button at the top right of the screen.
  3. Tap , and then tap the middle icon at the bottom of the screen to open the Capture Mode panel. You can select from these capture modes:
    • Photo. Captures standard still images.
    • Video. Records video clips, with or without audio.
    • Panorama. Captures still images continuously in one direction, and then stitches them to create a panoramic view of a scenery.
    • MMS Video. Records video clips suitable for sending via MMS.
    • Contacts Picture. Captures a still image that you can assign as a contact picture.
  4. Tap a capture mode, and then take a photo or start recording a video.

Setting the flashlight
The flashlight at the back of your phone aids the camera in getting better exposures at low-light environments. The flashlight operates in two modes: assist light and camera flash.

  1. On the Home screen, slide to the Photos & Videos tab.
  2. Tap the Camera button or Video button at the top right of the screen.
  3. Tap the Flashlight button on the screen to cycle through these settings:

    When there is not enough environmental light, the camera flash turns on automatically when you take a photo, while the assist light turns on automatically when you capture a video and remains on until you stop capturing.

    The assist light turns on every time the camera focuses. The camera flash then turns on when you take a photo, while the assist light turns on when you capture a video and remains on until you stop capturing.

    The flash light is always off.

  4. After setting the flashlight, take a photo or start recording a video.

To save battery power, the flashlight automatically turns off even when you set it to “auto” or “always on”. This happens when you have an incoming call or when your phone's battery level is down to 20% or lower.

Changing basic camera settings
Use the Menu panel to change some basic camera settings.

  1. On the Home screen, slide to the Photos & Videos tab.
  2. Tap the Camera button or Video button at the top right of the screen.
  3. 3. Tap , and then tap to open the Menu panel and adjust these settings:
    • White balance. Select white balance setting according to the current lighting condition to capture colors more accurately.
    • Brightness. Open the Brightness bar and adjust the brightness level. Tap outside the Brightness bar to apply the change.
    • ISO. Set the ISO level manually to 100, 200, 400, or 800, or set it back to AUTO. Higher ISO numbers are better for taking pictures in low light conditions. Note that the camera automatically adjusts the ISO level up to 400 only.
    • Storage. Choose between saving your captured photos and videos on the phone storage or the installed storage card.
    • Self-timer. Set the self-timer to 2 seconds, 10 seconds, or Off when in Photo or Contacts Picture mode.
    • Advanced. Open the Advanced screen to adjust advanced camera settings.
  4. To change a setting, tap a button to cycle through or open available options.

The available Menu panel buttons depend on the selected capture mode.

Sending a Multimedia Message more
With your phone, you can send multimedia messages (MMS) that include text, a photo or video, audio, slideshow, and other attachments such as a person’s contact information or a calendar appointment.

Multimedia messaging is a charged service and has to be provisioned on your mobile phone account. Contact your mobile operator to have multimedia messaging provisioned as part of your calling plan. Make sure the size of multimedia messages that you send is within the limits allowed by your mobile operator.

To create a multimedia message, start by creating a text message. When you add a subject, or include a photo, video, or other attachment, your message becomes a multimedia message.
  1. On the Home screen's Messages tab, tap the New Message icon.
  2. Fill in one or more recipients. In the To field, you can:
    • Start entering the first few letters of the recipient's name to display a matching list of names from your stored contacts. Each name may have several phone numbers or email addresses. Tap the number or address to which you want to send a message.
    • Enter the recipient's mobile phone number or email address, and then tap the Enter key or semicolon key. Repeat this process to type in another number.
    • Address the message to one or more groups of contacts. Tap Menu > Add Recipient, and then tap the Groups tab. Select the check box of one or more groups, and then tap Done. (The message will only be sent to group members whose phone number is stored in your contacts.)
  3. Tap the text box that shows "Tap to compose text" and then enter your message.
  4. Tap the Attach button.
  5. Choose what you want to include in your multimedia message:
    • Select a photo or video to attach to your message. If you do not see the photo or video that you want, tap Albums first to select the storage card or another album where the photo or video is located. You can also capture a photo or video and add it to your message.
    • Send a voice recording.
    • Select a contact and attach that person’s contact details to your message.
    • Select an appointment from the calendar to attach to your message.
    • Add a subject and compose a slideshow. For details, see “Creating a slideshow” below.
  6. When you have finished composing your message, tap Send.

Creating a slideshow
In a multimedia message, you can add slides, each containing a photo, video, audio, or other attachments such as contact card or calendar appointment.
  1. Follow steps 1 to 5 above, and tap the slideshow icon.
  2. On the new slide, enter your subject.
  3. Tap Insert Picture, and then select a photo or video to add to the slide. If the photo size exceeds the remaining message size, tap Yes to resize it. A selected video cannot be added to the slide if its file size exceeds the limit.
  4. To add more attachments to the current slide, tap Menu > Insert and select the type of attachment you want to add.
  5. To add another slide, tap the Add Slide button and repeat steps 3 and 4 to add a photo or video and other attachments.
  6. To edit your slideshow, do any of the following:
    • To go to the previous slide or the next slide, tap the left or right arrow button.
    • To remove a photo, video, or another attachment from a slide, tap Menu and then tap what to remove.
    • To delete a slide, tap Menu > Remove Slide.
    • To set the display duration for a photo slide, tap Menu > Duration, and then select a duration. You can set a different duration for each slide.
  7. To view the whole slideshow, tap Menu > Preview.
  8. When you have finished composing the slideshow, tap Done.
  9. Tap Send.

How do I use my camera flash when the battery is low? more
The camera flash is intentionally disabled when the phone charge has less than 20% power remaining.  This was done to help you conserve your phones charge so you don't drain the battery taking photos.
How do I use the flash for the camera? more
  1. From the Home screen slide to the Camera tab and select the Camera icon.
  2. Tap the Flash icon to change the mode to On, Off, and Automatic.
How do I change the video recording format of the Camera? more
  1. Slide to the Photos and Videos tab and tap the Video icon in the top right corner.
  2. Tap the Options Menu icon (in the bottom right corner) then tap the Settings icon (Shaped like a gear) > Advanced > Capture Format.
  3. You can select from one of two Capture Format modes (H.263/MPEG4).
