Power and Battery
- How can I optimize my battery’s performance? more
-
While using the T-Mobile G1™ there are different features such as watching YouTube, listening to music, programs running in the background, using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®, constantly synchronizing e-mail that can drain the battery quickly. Overall, you can expect the following battery life estimates when using the T-Mobile G1:
Talk time - Up to 5 hours
Standby time - Up to 130 hours
To improve battery life, refer to the following information:
• When you don’t need 3G services, set your phone to connect to a T-Mobile’s 2G network. To do this, press HOME > MENU > Settings > Wireless controls > Mobile networks, then select the Prefer 2G networks option.
• When your T-Mobile G1 is not in use, press END CALL/POWER to switch off the screen.
• Select a shorter idle time before the phone screen switches off and lower the screen brightness. To do this, press HOME > MENU > Settings > Sound & display > Brightness and Screen timeout.
• Use the AC adapter to plug your T-Mobile G1 into an external power outlet whenever possible.
• Turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off when you are not using it. To do this, press HOME > MENU > Settings > Wireless controls.
• Turn off your phone connection to GPS satellites when not in use. To do this, press HOME > MENU, tap Settings > Security & location, then clear the GPS satellites option.
• Close battery-intensive programs, such as the Camera, when you are done using them. Was this helpful? Yes | No - How long should it take to charge my battery? more
- Your battery can take up to 4 hours to fully charge using the AC charger. It will take much longer using the USB as that is the trickle charge function. Was this helpful? Yes | No
- Why won’t my device power on? more
- Your battery may be drained or is not inserted correctly. Try removing and reinserting the battery. If no success, try charging the device using the AC Charger. You will see a solid green led light once the battery is fully charged. Was this helpful? Yes | No
- What are the Status light indicators? more
-
There is an LED light in the speaker that provides a status or activity indication. The indicators are listed in order of priority. For example, if your phone is connected to a power adapter, the LED will be solid red and not switch to a flashing green light even if there is a pending notification.
• Solid green: Battery is fully charged (while connected to power adapter).
• Solid red: Battery is charging.
• Flashing red: Battery is low. Connect to charger.
• Flashing green: You have a pending notification.
Was this helpful? Yes | No - Why does it take so long to charge my device using the USB? more
- The USB cable acts as a trickle charger so it will take longer than if you were using an AC charger. While the USB will work, it is recommended to use the AC charger, especially if the battery level reaches 10% or below. Was this helpful? Yes | No
