    The phone automatically updates its software using over-the-air (OTA) updates. When new software is available, the phone displays a prompt asking you to update the phone.

    To manually check for updates:

    4. Tap Check new.

    What software do I need to synchronize my phone with my PC?

    HTC Sync allows synchronization between a Phone and PC.  You can find the latest version of HTC Sync, instructions, and drivers from the Support section of our website.

    Once you download HTC Sync, connect your phone to your PC and select HTC Sync from the Choose a connection type pop-up.

    Note: USB debugging mode must be enabled for your phone to be able to synchronize with your PC using HTC Sync. This should happen automatically, and a USB debugging connected notification will appear in your Notifications menu when successfully enabled. If this does not appear, you can manually enable this setting by:

    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Applications.
    4. Tap Development
    5. Tap to check USB debugging.

    I set an unlock pattern on my phone and don’t recall what it is. How to I unlock my phone?

    If you’ve forgotten your screen lock pattern, you have up to five attempts to try and unlock your phone.
    If this fails, you can unlock your phone by entering your Google Account user name and password.

    1. On the unlock screen, enter your lock pattern.
    2. After the fifth attempt, when you’re asked to wait for 30 seconds, tap OK.
    3. If the display goes off, press the Power button to turn the display back on, and then unlock the screen.
    4. Tap the Forgot pattern? button when it appears.
    5. Enter your Google Account name and password, and then tap Sign in. You’ll then be asked to create a new screen lock pattern. If you no longer want to do so, tap Cancel.

    If you have not set up Gmail or do not recall your Gmail login information, you will have to factory reset your phone and reconfigure it for use.

    Note: A Factory reset will permanently delete all your data and customized settings, and will remove any applications you've downloaded and installed. SD and SIM card data will not be deleted.

    To perform a factory reset on your phone:

    • Ensure that Fast Boot is disabled, then power down your phone.
    • With the phone turned off, press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys for 10 seconds.
    • Release the Power key, while still holding the Volume Down key.
    • Wait for the screen with the 3 Android images to appear, and then release the Volume Down key.
    • Press Volume Down to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the Power key.

    How do I set a song as a notification or alarm sound?
    1. Use the micro USB cable to connect the phone to a USB port on your computer.
    2. On your phone, choose Disk drive as the connection type. This will allow you to access the micro SD card on your phone from the computer and be able to copy music onto the micro SD card.
    3. On your computer, open the new removable disk.
    4. f it doesn’t already exist, create a folder on the root folder of the micro SD card and name it “notifications” or “alarms” depending on the type of sound you are looking for.
    5. Copy your desired MP3 files to this folder. Any song or MP3 file that you put on the notifications/alarms folder will be added on to the list of available notifications on the handset.
    6. Disconnect the USB cable from your phone, or turn off USB storage on your phone. Your song will now be listed as an available notification.

    How do I add lock-screen security to my phone?

    Protect your personal information and prevent others from using your phone without your permission by setting a screen lock pattern, PIN or password. After setting up lock-screen security, you will be asked to unlock your phone every time your phone is turned on or when it’s idle for a certain period of time.

    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Set up screen lock.
    5. Tap one of the following:
      • None - Disable the screen lock you’ve previously created.
      • Pattern - Set a screen lock pattern by following the onscreen instructions.
      • PIN - Set a numeric password of at least four digits.
      • Password - Set an alpha-numeric password.
    6. On the Security screen, tap Lock phone after, then specify the idle time you wish to allow before the screen is locked.
    Tip: You can also clear the check box next to Use visible pattern on the Security screen if you don’t want your screen lock to display as you enter it onscreen.

    Changing your screen lock
    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Change screen lock.
    5. Enter your current screen lock to confirm that you want to change it.
    6. Choose a different screen lock type, and then enter your new pattern, PIN, or password. Alternatively, tap None if you want to remove your screen lock.

    Change the Mobile Hotspot settings

    1. From the Home screen, tap the All apps button.
    2. Tap Mobile Hotspot.
    3. Change the settings as desired:

    Router name (SSID) – The Wi-Fi network name users see when trying to connect to your hotspot.

    Security – Which security type you wish to use to secure your hotspot (None/WEP/WPA/WPA2).

    Password – The security password users will need to enter to access your hotspot.

    Manage users – Choose the maximum number of users who can access your hotspot (1-5) and whether or not access is limited to allowed users.

    Note: You can also access the Mobile Hotspot settings from the Settings menu by going to Wireless & networks > Mobile Hotspot settings.

    I set a PIN or Password lock on my phone and don’t recall what it is. How to I unlock my phone?

    The only way to get into your phone when you have forgotten your PIN or Password is to perform a Factory Reset.

    Note: A Factory reset will permanently delete all your data and customized settings, and will remove any applications you've downloaded and installed. SD and SIM card data will not be deleted.

    To perform a factory reset on your phone:

    • Ensure that Fast Boot is disabled, then power down your phone.

    9. Note: If unable to locate the desired device, repeat steps 6 and 7.
      If prompted, note the Passkey displayed on the handset and compare it to the passkey displayed on the pairing device or PC. Accept pairing on any dialog boxes displayed on your pairing device or PC.
      If prompted, enter the password, and tap OK.

      Note:
      The default password is usually 0000 or 1234. If not, please consult your Bluetooth device’s manual.

    3.  If this is the first time you have connected your phone in Internet pass-through mode, wait for the NDIS drivers to install on your computer. Once the drivers are installed, the connection process will begin.

    Connect to PC

    • Set the default USB connection type to use whenever you connect your phone to your computer.

    Set a screen lock, enable the SIM card lock, or manage the credential storage.

    Power

    SD & phone storage
    • Check the available space in the internal storage and your storage card.

    • From this screen, be sure to un-mount your storage card before you remove it from the phone.

    Date & time
    Set the date and time, time zone, and date or time format.

    Language & keyboard
    Set the operating system language and region. You can also set onscreen keyboard options as well as disable and enable 3rd party keyboards that you have installed.

    Accessibility
    Use these settings when you’ve downloaded and installed an accessibility tool, such as a screen reader that provides voice feedback. You can turn accessibility functions or services on or off.

    Voice input & output
    Set up the voice input options. Also, if you’ve installed a text-to-speech (voice data) application, use this to set the text-to-speech settings.

    Software Update
    Check to see if there is a new software update for your phone.

    View different information about your phone, such as the battery level, hardware and software information, and more.

    1. On the Now playing screen of the Music application, press the Menu button.

    4. Tap Trim the ringtone.
    5. Use the onscreen controls to trim your ringtone:
      • Drag the two trim sliders to the approximate start and end points of the ringtone.
      • Tap the left and right arrow buttons to more precisely set the start and end points.
      • The markers show the start and end times of the ringtone.
    6. After you’ve finished trimming, tap Set as.
    7. Then choose whether to set the trimmed song as your Phone ringtone or a Contact ringtone.

    When I click on a media link in the Internet browser, will it play the file?

    You may add, set up and manage virtual private networks (VPNs) so you can connect and access resources inside a secured local network, such as your corporate network. Depending on the type of VPN you’re using at work, you may be asked to enter your login credentials or install security certificates before you can connect to your company’s local network. Contact your network administrator for more information.

    Note: Your phone must be connected to a Wi-Fi or data connection before you can start a VPN connection.

    Setting up secure credential storage

    If your network administrator tells you to download and install security certificates, you must first set up secure credential storage on your phone.

    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Security.
    4. Tap Set password.
    5. Enter a new password for the credential storage (must be at least 8 characters).
    6. Scroll down and confirm the password, and then tap OK.
    7. Tap to select the Use secure credentials check box.

    You may now download and install the certificates needed to access your local network. Your network administrator can tell you how to do this.

    Adding a VPN connection
    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Wireless & networks.
    4. Tap VPN settings.
    5. Tap Add VPN.
    6. Tap the type of VPN you want to connect to (PPTP/L2TP/L2TP IPSec PSK/L2TP IPSec CRT).
    7. Configure your VPN settings according to the security details provided by your network administrator.
    8. Press the Menu key.
    9. Tap Save.
    10. The VPN is now added to the VPNs section of the VPN settings screen.
    Connecting to a VPN
    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Wireless & networks.
    4. Tap VPN settings.
    5. In the VPNs section, tap the VPN you want to connect to.
    6. When asked, enter your log in credentials, and then tap Connect. When you’re connected, the VPN connected icon (a white key) appears in the notification bar.
    7. You can then open the web browser to access resources such as your corporate network intranet.
    Disconnecting from a VPN
    1. Press and hold the notification bar, and then slide down your finger to open the Notifications panel.
    2. Tap the VPN connection to return to the VPN settings screen, and then tap the VPN connection to disconnect from it.
    3. When your phone has disconnected from the VPN, the VPN disconnected icon (a grey key) is displayed in the notification area of the title bar.
