How can I install an application I downloaded from my PC to my tablet?

To install an application on your tablet, first make sure that the installer is an .apk file, as this is the only file type that can be installed on the Android OS.

After you have downloaded the .apk file to your computer, use the provided USB cable to connect the tablet to a USB port on your computer. When prompted, choose Disk drive as the connection type on your device. On your computer, go to the newly mounted Removable Disk and then copy the file to the microSD card.

When finished, turn off USB storage on your device by tapping the USB indicator at the bottom of the Home screen, then change the connection type to Charge only.

To enable the application to be installed on the device, go to All apps > Settings > Applications then check Unknown sources.

In order for you to be able to access the file and install it on your device, you will need a file manager application installed. Search for the keyword “file manager” on the Android Market, and then locate and download a file manager application.

Using your file manager, open the folder where you copied the file. Tap the installation file then tap Install. Once installed, you will have an option to Open the newly installed application or tap Done to close and finish the installation without opening the newly installed application.
