    Device Management

    Check battery consumption
You can check which items have been consuming the most battery power by going to All apps > Settings > PowerBattery use. Under normal usage, it is expected that the majority of power will be consumed by the Screen, Phone and Android OS. Wireless signals such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can also be a heavy drain if they are left on.
    Note
: This screen will only show which apps have been consuming power since the device was last powered on/rebooted.

    Improve the battery’s performance
To improve your battery performance, make any of the changes listed below that you are comfortable with. The more of these changes you can make, the better performance you will get from your battery.

    • When you stop using the device, press the Power button on the top of the device to turn off the screen.
    • Use the wall adapter to charge your device whenever possible.
    • Close apps when you are done using them, especially if they connect to the network or use a lot of memory.
    • Turn off automatic synchronization.  (All apps > Settings > Accounts & sync > tap the slider to turn Auto Sync off)
    • Reduce backlight duration. (All apps > Settings > Display & gestures)
    • Reduce the amount of active or updating widgets you have on your home screen. Widgets with information such as news, weather, social updates etc. all require access to data networks which uses battery power.
    • Lower the screen brightness. (All apps > Settings > Display & gestures)
    • Turn off Live wallpapers (All apps > Settings > Personalize > Wallpapers).
    • Turn off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS when they are not needed.
    • Evaluate and remove third-party apps that drain battery. Apps that use Wi-Fi, GPS, data connections, or continuously run in the background can drain your battery more quickly. To evaluate if other people have had poor battery performance with an app, follow these steps:
      1. From the Home screen, tap All apps.
      2. Tap Play Store.
      3. Tap the Menu button.
      4. Tap My apps.
      5. Tap an app to check.
      6. Scroll down to the comments and tap Read all comments.
      7. See if there other people have complained about the app reducing battery life.
      8. If there are negative comments regarding battery life, you can uninstall the app to increase your battery performance.

    Files and Storage

    Understanding device storage
Your device contains 16GB of storage, which can be used for many different purposes. To comply with Android requirements, this memory allocation is split into 3 different partitions:

    • System storage (~3.5 GB) – Hidden from view in the Settings menu, this storage partition is used for the Android operating system, HTC Sense, and pre-installed applications.
    • Internal storage (~2.5 GB) – Primarily used for installing applications and application data.
    • Phone storage (~10 GB) – Used for personal data such as music, videos, documents and more. This is the mass storage partition that you can use to copy and paste files to/from a computer.

To check how much internal storage is available for use

    • From the Home screen, tap All Apps.
    • Tap Settings.
    • Tap Storage.
    • View the amount of available space for the Internal Storage and Phone storage partitions.

    Cloud Storage using Dropbox
Purchasing your HTC EVO 4G LTE device also qualifies you for 25GB of free Dropbox storage for two years. Simply download the Dropbox app to your device and then create or log in to a Dropbox account. Your storage allowance will be changed automatically. This is an additional 23GB over the normal free account which offers 2GB.

    Download an attachment
Tap on the attachment header in an email message and then tap the down arrow next to the name of the attachment.

    Locating downloaded attachments
While content downloaded from a website will appear within the Downloads app, files downloaded as email attachments will not. To access these files again, search your email inbox for the email containing the file.

If you will regularly need to access files downloaded as attachments, apps are available in the Play store to read specific file types or to browse the contents of your phone storage.

    View all emails with attachments
    From the email application, tap
Menu > Edit tabs and then drag the Attached icon down to the bar at the bottom of the screen. Return to the email application and then tap on the Attached tab to view all emails with attachments.
