Your phone is set up by default to automatically sync with your Google account, if you have set one up already. To set up a Google account, press Menu on the Home screen, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync > choose Add Account > select Google and then tap Next > follow the on-screen instructions to enter the account information.
If you don't want to synchronize automatically, press Menu on the Home screen, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync and then uncheck Background data and Auto-sync.

Yes, you will lose your data on the phone. However, if you have set up a Google account on your phone, your data is synchronized and backed up on your Google account.
To set up a Google account, press Menu on the Home screen, and then tap Settings > Accounts & sync > choose Add Account > Select Google and then tap Next > follow the on-screen instructions to enter the account information. Your Google account will automatically sync with your Google contacts, Google calendar, and Gmail.

- To transfer files from your computer to your phone’s storage card, you need to set the phone’s storage card as a USB drive. Connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable, and then choose Disk drive from the on-screen menu that appears. The storage card is now mounted as a USB drive.
