This is an application that allows you to play pictures, music and videos stored on your device or on a media server to DLNA supported device such as a TV, Music player or even speakers. To access Connected Media, tap the All apps button and then tap Connected Media.
After the software update, your device has a very simple method to access running applications – just press and hold the home key for about one second. Once the apps are displayed, you may tap on one of the apps to return to it, or swipe right over the app end the process.
By default, all applications on the handset are installed to the Internal Storage partition (used specifically for apps and app data). An application can be moved to the Phone Storage card if it was designed by the developer to have that function. To move applications to Phone Storage:
Note 1: If you have installed an SD card in your device (one does not come shipped with it), there is no option to move applications to it.
Note 2: You will not be able to use the applications on Phone storage if the handset is connected to a computer and in Disk drive mode.
HTC Hub is an online store that allows you to download and install content recommended for your device from HTC. There are two primary services in HTC Hub:
Applications - Contains information on recommended apps for your device, including “likes” and comments from other HTC Sense users. Once you select to download an app, you will be redirected to Play Store to complete the download and install process. In earlier software builds, this section used to be part of a separate app called HTC Likes.
Personalization – Download additional alarms, ringtones, themes, wallpapers and more that were developed by HTC for your HTC device.
Note: An HTC Sense account is required to download content from HTC Hub.
Quickly create a folder on the home screen by dragging one application shortcut on top of another application. Once a folder is created, tapping the folder will display a pop-up screen with the apps held within the folder. You may also change the name of the folder by tapping the name in the folder pop-up and changing it as desired.
Calendar allows you to view multiple calendars from different sources (Exchange, Facebook, Google and personal). You can view your calendar by agenda, day, week, or month. You can add events to each different calendar. You can also invite people to meetings.
Your device has three methods of managing memory and stopping applications:
Polaris Office comes pre-loaded on the device and can be used to open and view office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) received in email as attachments or stored on the SD Card. See the General and Other category for more information.
Dock Mode is an interface that brings commonly used applications into one area, providing quick and easy to read access to the clock, weather and Friend Stream updates. There are also quick access shortcuts to Photo Frame, Connected media and Calendar. When using a supported desktop dock, the Dock Mode interface will display automatically.
NOTE: To exit Dock Mode, select the X icon in the bottom-left.
Transfer is an HTC application that assists you with transferring contact, SMS messages and calendar events from an old device to your HTC device. This transfer is done via Bluetooth and has been proven to work with devices from Apple, Blackberry, HTC, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson although it may work with other devices from other manufacturers.
Wi-Fi Hotspot is an application that allows you to wirelessly share your device’s internet connection with up to 8 other Wi-Fi enabled devices. See the Connectivity and Internet category for more information.
Task Manager is an HTC Sense application that allows you to quickly view which applications are running in the background and how much memory each application is using. You can quickly end a running application by tapping the X button next to the application, or you can tap Kill all to stop all running applications.
To enable installation of non-Market applications, you must first enable applications from unknown sources.
By default, your device is set to auto detect the lighting conditions in which you are taking pictures. If you would like to have more control over the way your pictures are taken you can do so in the Settings menu.
Your device also has the ability to change the ISO speed to adjust to different lighting conditions. If you are unsure of what this setting can do with your pictures, it is recommended to leave the setting at Auto to automate the ISO settings.
Downloads is an interface where you can quickly access files you have downloaded from the internet. To switch the sorting method to more easily locate your files, press Menu and select Sort by size or Sort by time.
Gallery is an application that allows you to view and manage your pictures and videos on your device. See the Camera category for more information.
The primary change to the home screen after the last update is the new launch bar at the bottom of the screen. Where previously there were three static buttons for All apps, Phone and Personalize, the new bar has four application shortcuts that are visible on all home screen panels.
By default, these shortcuts are Phone, Messages, Mail and Camera, though they can be customized to be whichever applications you like. Simply drag and drop the application shortcuts on or off the launch bar as you would for other home screen icons. Icons on the launch bar may also be grouped into folders.
Call History is application that lists all your incoming, outgoing and missed calls.
To sort your call history
You can only uninstall applications that have been downloaded on to the device.
Latitude allows you to see your friend’s location on a map. You can track who is going where as long as they have added you to their latitude list. Select your friends for real time updates of their locations.
Once you have captured the image, tap Share, select how you want to send the image (Facebook, Twitter, etc), and then follow the prompts.
If the camera has returned to the viewfinder, or you are viewing a picture from the Gallery, tap anywhere on the picture to display the available options including Share.
Note: Pictures are saved to Phone storage by default. If you have put an SD card in the phone, you can enable pictures to save to the card in the Camera settings.
To enable the manual installation of an application, you must first enable applications from unknown sources (see the How do I install applications that are not in the Play Store? FAQ). Next, you must make sure that the installer is an .apk file, as this is the only file type that can be installed on the Android OS. After you have downloaded the installation file to your computer, use the micro USB cable to connect the device to your computer. When prompted, choose Disk drive as the connection type on your device. On your computer, go to the newly mounted Removable Disk and then copy the file to the microSD card. Once the transfer is finished, disconnect your device from your computer. In order for you to be able to access the file and install it on your device, you will need a file manager application installed. From the Home screen, tap the All apps button, tap Play Store and search for the keyword “file manager.” Locate and download a file manager application.
Using your file manager, open the folder where you copied the file. Tap the installation file then tap Install. Once the application is installed, it will be available in your All apps menu.
Press and hold the Home button from any screen to show the recently accessed programs, and then tap the icon for the program you want to bring back into view.
Setup is an application goes through the initial setup process of your device. It allows you to pick your language, transfer contacts from an older device, and set up a data connection, email and your social networks.
Talk is a Google application that allows you to chat with your Google contacts. See the Messaging category for more information.
While using the Camera application, press the Menu key to display the various settings.
Messenger is an instant messaging program for your Google+ account. Use this application to chat with your online Google+ friends.
Google+ is a social network service offered by Google and is linked to your Google account. Organize your friends into "Circles", socialize, post pictures &videos, have video chat "Hangouts" with friends and more. For more information, visit http://plus.google.com.
You can also enable Instant Upload, which will upload all pictures you take with the camera on your HTC smartphone to a private folder on your Google+ account. You can then choose which pictures you want to share with your friends. Google+ uses Picasa its photo hosting and sharing service, which means that you have the entire suite of Picasa services available for your uploaded pictures in addition to the options available in Google+. There are two ways to access the video camera on your device:

Clock gives you access to multiple useful utilities, such as a Desk Clock view, World Clock, Alarm Clock, Stopwatch and Timer. You can switch between these utilities using the icons at the bottom of the screen.
Internet is the standard web browser for Android. The web browser supports full Flash 10 and HTML 5 viewing. You can also open multiple browser windows. See the Connectivity and Internet category for more information.
This application provides status updates from your Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr accounts in one place (after you have set each up on your device) and can also broadcast a single comment simultaneously to Facebook and Twitter.

While using the camera in Camcorder mode, tap the Flash icon (crooked arrow below the shutter button while in landscape mode) to enable it to be used as a lighting source. NOTE: Using the flash as a light source may shorten the handset's battery life. See the Power and Battery category for tips to optimize your battery life.
Phone is the application allowing you to make and receive phone calls and view call logs. See the Phone category for more information.
Music allows you to browse, sort and play music stored on your Phone Memory or SD card. See the Multimedia category for more information.
Play Store is the application that provides access to the Play Store. Play Store offers multiple different content types for users to download:
When downloading content from Play Store, be aware that the offered content has not been tested by HTC or your mobile operator and that all Play Store application support is the responsibility of the Developer of that application; not HTC or your mobile operator.
To access Play Store, you will need an active Google account (Gmail username/password). If a Google account has not been set up when you first access Play Store, you will be prompted to set one up before continuing.
Weather is an HTC Sense application that allows you to see the current day and 5-day weather forecast. You can save up to 7 different locations, including one that will automatically update based on your location.
While using the Camera application, tap Effects to open the menu, then chose from the different available effects such as Distortion, Grayscale, Sepia, etc.
Messages is the application used to send and receive text (SMS) or multimedia (MMS) messages. See the Messaging category for more information.
Places is Google’s Point of Interest application. See the GPS category for more information.
People is your contact management application. See the Contacts category for more information.
You can choose to view your social networking contacts (such as Facebook or Twitter) in the People application, which will then allow you to search those accounts for contact information, view status updates, comment on Facebook Walls and more.
To view these contacts from within the People application, tap the dropdown list from the top and check the accounts you would like to see.
The option to set up your Facebook account is available during the initial setup of your device. If this step was skipped, you can add an account at any time.
While using the Camera application, tap Scenes to display the different options:
In order to have the Weather information update automatically as you change locations, the Location setting needs to be enabled for GPS. You are prompted to select this option during the initial set up of the device. If need be, these settings can also be manually changed:
This is the official Twitter application. View, post, or reply to tweets and more.
Yes, the camera for this device comes with a built in LED flash that is set to Auto by default. These settings can be changed within the camera settings. The LED can also be used as a continuous light source when filming video in camcorder mode.

Music will search its database for album art matching your music, and associate the album art for the music it knows.
To view all applications on your device, tap the All Apps icon (tiled squares) in the bottom-center of your screen.
The YouTube application gives you access to YouTube video content, specially formatted for your Android device. You can access your YouTube channel by pressing the Menu key, tapping My channel and then logging in using your Google or YouTube account.
Voice Recorder allows you to record a voice note using your device. Once you have recorded and saved a voice note, you can choose to share it using Messaging, Email, Gmail or Bluetooth.
Search allows you search Google using text input and/or voice.

In order to use the application shortcuts on the lock screen, drag the application shortcut to the middle of the ring at the bottom of the lock screen then release. This will unlock the screen and launch the application you chose.

From the Home screen, tap All apps and then tap YouTube. To view videos by category, tap the BROWSE tab and then select the desired category.
You may also to sign into or create an account with YouTube by tapping the ACCOUNT tab. The Google accounts you have already set up on your device are listed. You may choose from these or tap Add account to sign in with a different YouTube account.
Note: You can control music playback using the lock-screen music controller. Tap the Play (or Pause) button to play (or stop) the music. Tap the Next and Back buttons to skip to other songs in the playlist.
News is an HTC Sense application that allows you to read updates from RSS news feeds.
The Gmail application is used to manage the email associated to the default Google account on your device, and is designed to have many of the same features as the Gmail website. Once you have set up your default Google account, this application will automatically be configured.
NOTE: You can set up additional Gmail accounts in the Gmail or Mail application, however you will not have the same feature set as is available for your default account.

From within the Camera application, tap Mode, then move the switch from Main to Front. Once you see yourself in the viewfinder, tap the shutter icon to capture the self-portrait.
