COMMON QUESTIONS

    Tips and Tricks

    Access the System Status (Signal strength, Network, battery level, etc.)

    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap About Phone.
    4. Tap one of the following:
      • Network
      • Phone identity
      • Battery
      • Hardware information
      • Software information

    Return to the Home Screen
    Press the Home key while on any screen or in any application.

    Improve the battery’s performance 
    To improve your battery performance, make any of the changes listed below that you are comfortable with. The more of these changes you can make, the better performance you will get from your battery.

    • When you stop using the phone, press the Power button on the top of the phone to turn off the screen.
    • Use the wall adapter to charge your phone whenever possible.
    • Close apps when you are done using them, especially if they connect to the network or use a lot of memory.
    • Reduce backlight duration. (Menu > Settings > Display >Sleep )
    • Lower the screen brightness. (Menu > Settings > Display > Brightness)
    • Turn off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS when they are not needed.
    • Evaluate and remove third-party apps that drain battery. Apps that use Wi-Fi, GPS, data connections, or always run in the background can drain your battery more quickly. To evaluate if other people have had poor battery performance with an app, follow these steps:
      1. From the Home screen, tap the All apps button.
    • Tap Play Store.
    • Press the Menu key.
    • Tap My apps.
    • Tap an app to check.
    • Scroll down to the comments and tap Read all comments.
    • See if there other people have complained about the app reducing battery life.
    • If there are negative comments regarding battery life, you can uninstall the app to increase your battery performance.


    Managing Memory Check how much internal storage is available for use

    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Storage. The available storage for use is displayed in the Internal storage section.


    Check the available storage card space

    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Storage. The total and available storage card space is displayed in the SD card section.


    Clear application cache and data

    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Apps.
    4. On the All tab, tap an application.
    5. On the application information screen, tap Clear data and/or Clear cache.


    Uninstall third-party applications
    Note: You cannot uninstall applications that are preinstalled on your phone.

    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Apps.
    4. On the Downloaded tab, tap the application you wish to uninstall.
    5. Tap Uninstall.


    Move applications to or from the storage card
    Move downloaded applications to the storage card if the internal storage on your phone is getting low. Or, if your storage card is getting full, you can also move applications from the storage card to the internal storage.

    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Apps.
    4. On the Downloaded tab, tap the application you want to move.
    5. Choose whether to move the application to the storage card or to phone.

    NOTE: You can only move applications that are not preinstalled on your phone. Some downloaded applications also may not be able to be moved to the memory card.

    Stop running applications using Task Manager
    Free up memory by using Task Manager to stop running applications when you aren’t using them.

    1. From the Home screen, drag down the notification bar.
    2. Tap Quick Settings.
    3. Tap Total Memory.
    4. In the All applications list, tap the X to the right of an application’s name to stop it, or Kill all to stop all running applications.

    Switch between running programs
    Press and hold the Home button to show the current running programs.


    Supported audio files for ringtones
    This phone supports *.3gp, *.mp3, *.mid, *.m4a, *.mmf, *.wma, HiFi (mp3, aac), Megatones (Midi), and Polyphonic sound files as ring tones.


    View which applications are running
    • Open the All apps menu and tap Task Manager to view all running programs.
    • Press and hold the Home button until the task list appears to switch between recent apps.


    Enable or disable audible selection
    You can choose to play a sound when you are selecting items onscreen.

    1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Sound.
    4. Select the Touch sounds check box.
