What does "‍Verify apps"‍ do, and how do I check if it's enabled?

The Verify apps feature helps you protect your phone from potentially harmful apps.

When it's turned on, your phone will be able to block the installation of apps and remove apps if security threats are detected.

  • On phone models with Android 6 Marshmallow:

Go to Settings > Google > Security. Under Verify apps, turn on Scan device for security threats.

  • On phone models with Android 5 Lollipop:

From the Home screen, tap > Google Settings > Security. Under Verify apps, turn on Scan device for security threats.

  • On phone models with Android 4 KitKat:

Go to Settings > Security. Under Device administration, select the Verify apps option.
