Rated 4 out of 5Â by eNco Nice First Smartphone
This is my first smartphone, and I am enjoying it immensely. I was torn because of the mixed reviews, but so far so good. I love the included dock & speakers, the responsiveness of the phone, and the Android experience in general. The processor speed is pretty good, and the camera surprised me by being even better than I expected. As a photographer, I have experimented with various settings and lighting situations, and found I could get a nice photo under most conditions. It definitely matches my last p&s camera for quality. (Now I am experimenting with some of the photo apps to retouch, as you don't always have time to fiddle with settings to take a photo. And the "Instagram" type effects are not my cup of tea, so I won't use them often.) The battery only lasts about a day after conditioning, but from what I've read, that's not bad for a smartphone, and with the dock, it's not a big problem for me, especially as I use the alarm anyway, so I just dock and charge at night. I will invest in a car charger set, however, for road trips. Some tricks and tips I have learned: Turn off the wi-fi until you plan to use it. As soon as you step outside your hotspot, it will alarm and drive you nuts. Finding settings can be tricky, so I've set up shortcuts on my home screens for some key items not readily accessible from either the upper or lower drop-down menus. Keep an eye on your open apps (visible from your upper menu). The phone does not perform well with too many apps open, and if you can't close your apps, you need to reboot. (Some apps have easy close, some not so much. HTC would be wise to offer a close option from the upper menu where the open apps are shown.) Also, apps that use a lot of memory (like sim games) are best used if there are few or no other apps open. The on-screen keyboard keys are responsive but tiny in portrait mode. If you're not five years old, with tiny fingers, you would probably prefer to text in landscape mode, where the keys are a typical size. (There are a few situations where the phone won't keyboard in landscape and that can be frustrating. But most of the time it does the auto-turn thing nicely.) Sound quality is only average, and is a little tinny. Because HTC uses the BEATS system on some of their phones, they would be wise in future to use BEATS for any phone like this one that is supposed to be audio oriented. (This phone does not use BEATS.) At the very least, an equalizer function would be welcome so users can reduce the treble or increase the bass. (Sound quality does improve when using the dock speakers.) As for the charm, I haven't found a situation where I would use it, it seems superfluous to me. But I'll keep an open mind, maybe a situation will arise. I haven't tried the video yet, that's next on my "breaking in" list. Finally, don't plan to use internal memory, because the installed software takes up the majority of the 4G. My phone came with an 8G Micro SDHC card (Class 6), and I am planning to replace that with the 32G the phone is supposed to be able to accommodate. Overall, I feel good about my investment, although I expect I'll be ready to upgrade in a year or so. Fingers crossed that the phone continues to work well for that long.

This is my first smart phone. I can mostly say good things about it. I've had it for about a year, and I won't be able to upgrade for about 2 more years. The cameras great, the processor is great, all over good. The only problem with it is it turns off while I type every week or so, and the keyboard will stop working for a minute or so every couple days or so. I haven't had problems with the battery, I play games, instagram, text, and listen to music a lot and while doing that the battery has about 7-9 hours if you use it as much as I do. I totally recommend this with minor inconveniences that don't occur often.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by lj4him Loved it at first but now UGH!!!!
Loved this phone when i first got it but in the past few months the phone has went nuts! My messaging system constantly crashes. My phones it self crashes all the time. The battery is not working like it should. Apps like Facebook, twitter, instagram are not working properly and they are not viral. This phone is not one that i would recommend I am having to buy a new phone before my contract runs out and I have never had to do that with any other phone.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by kaylarose Nice at first. Turns bad after time.
I loved my HTC Rhyme at first - it was my first smart phone! The camera and all of the phones features seemed nice, until I saw what other phones had to offer. One thing I hated was the setup. It was asinine. The preinstalled apps are awful. Never used a single one. The phone becomes very lagging. I can't get the Google Play store so I am stuck with the dreaded Market. The phone also cracks easily. And lastly the battery life dwindles down after a while..

Rated 2 out of 5Â by th97 doesnt do well in heat
When I first got the phone it was great but I now regret getting it. This is my 3rd rhyme and I'm about to have a 4th, all in one year.
My first rhyme after about 3 months started to not only make doubles of pictures but it would replace other pictures causing me to lose pictures. My phone then started to drop calls and freeze on my constantly. Then the thing that made me even more annoyed is the fact that my screen started to have random lines through it.
My second phone I only had for 2 days before the screen was compete static and I had to guess what I was doing it sometime was only part of the screen but most of the time it was the whole screen.
My phone I currently have (my third one) worked fine for afew months then when summer hit with all the hot humid air my phone has started to shut off randomly and it takes anywhere from 5 minutes to hours to turn it back on just for it to turn off randomly again. Most of the time my phone won't even stay on for more then 30 seconds. This has happened twice the first time for like a week and the day before I was able to go in to get a new one it started to work fine again. Little did I know, a month later I was having the same problem again after being out in the heat again. The only difference is this time it takes twice as ling to turn back on.
Don't waste you money on this phone its not worth it.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Jennbenn19 not so great
I've had my Rhyme for a little over a year now and I have begun to hate it! At first the phone was great, it did everything I wanted and ran smoothly. Now it takes FOREVER for anything to load, if it loads at all, it constantly shuts itself off, reloads, freezes and is so slow now it's just a general pain to work with. Web pages rarely fully load they get to about 75% then just stop, same happens with upgrades or new installs sometimes. Loading the camera takes long enough that spontaneous pics are impossible; games constantly freeze and/or run incredibly slow and sometimes it won’t even let me answer an incoming call or make an outgoing one. I have restarted it umpteen times, cleared data, and moved and uninstalled apps to no avail. I have 126 MB left in internal storage but some apps it won’t let me move to storage on my card which has 6.3 GB of memory left. I keep hearing from friends and family that I have to much stuff on the phone but given my memory amounts above I can’t believe that is possible and if it is than this phone holds squat!! I’m frustrated beyond belief and have to keep myself from throwing it across the room on a daily basis; I suggest looking elsewhere if you need a phone that actually works!
