Rated 5 out of 5Â by EricJW DNA = Do Not Avoid (this phone!)
The best phone I've laid eyes and hands on... ever. Of course each phone is supposed to progress with time, but normally this is a gradual gain. The DROID DNA is leaps and bounds ahead of other Android devices.
Part of it is Sense 4+ that makes it so great. Another part is Android 4.1.1. And then there's the various hardware that brings it all together. Truth be told, it's the the combination of the various aspects that takes it above and beyond.
My favorite features are definitely hardware. Never have I used a screen so crisp, plus the overall device size is perfect for my hand. While the device is "lightweight" it maintains a good, solid feel. Plug in some headphones and let Beats audio complete the user experience.
The DNA also offers the battery life that you expect and deserve. As a fairly heavy phone user throughout the day, the worst I've seen the battery do is go 12 hours and still have 20% battery left. On lighter days I'm able to 18 hours with 30%+ battery life available.
In summary, if you're looking for a good, solid, reliable phone then look no further than the DROID DNA. At least get to your local Verizon store and take it for a test drive. Even if it's not the phone you end up with, you won't be disappointed by the experience.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by spiderwebwoman This is definitely the (An)Droid I've been looking for - my take on the HTC DROID DNA
Function has always taken priority over form for me when choosing a new smartphone. The deal breaker for me is the ability to sync my desktop Microsoft Outlook Contacts and Calendar via USB, something I was always able to do with my Windows Mobile phones up to and including WM 6.5.
In August of 2011, I had to switch carriers due to cell phone tower issues with a company that shall go nameless. I went to Verizon and chose the HTC Merge and was immediately hooked on the Android OS. And because it was an HTC phone, I could use HTC Sync for my calendar and contacts.
And then the HTC DROID DNA walked into my life! It's the perfect combination of form and function - as one of my friends (who has a SG3) said: "It feels so good in your hand". Another friend, on Twitter, said: "very sexy, very lovely". They are both right. It is a gorgeous phone - I thought so just taking it out of the box, before I even powered it up. And then - Wow! The screen is amazing and the phone itself is so fast - no lag when you're switching from screen to screen. And the built in Beats Audio (using my Bose headphones) is just incredible, so clear and crisp - like being in a concert hall.
• Platform: Android™ 4.1 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense™ (also known as Sense 4+)
• Processor: Qualcomm® APQ8064 Quad-core 1.5 GHz, MDM9615M
• Memory: 16 GB, 2 GB RAM
• Networks: CDMA: 800/1900MHz; UMTS/HSPA: 850/900/1900/2100MHz; GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900MHz; LTE 700 MHz (Band 13)
• Camera with HTC ImageSense™: 8 MP main camera with auto focus, LED flash, BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 28mm lens, 1080p HD video recording, 2.1 MP front-facing camera, Dedicated HTC ImageChip™
• Display: 5-inch super LCD3, HD 1080p, Gorilla® Glass 2
• Audio: Beats Audio™ built in
• Battery: 2020 mAh LI-ION (embedded)
• Dimensions (LxWxT): 141 x 70.5 x 9.73 mm
• Weight: 140 g
I would add to the list:
• Compatible with HTC Sync Manager
• Has built in wireless charging - works with Qi-compatible chargers
I will now address a few issues mentioned in other reviews:
The lack of a removable SD card - I can understand why some people think this is a problem - it's how I always moved my music and pictures from one phone to the next. In this case, for me anyway, it wasn't necessary - I had been using HTC Sync on my HTC Merge, so my music and pictures were on my PC and I used HTC Sync Manager to get them onto the DROID DNA.
The battery - I've read some comments about the specs on the battery saying that it's not powerful enough. I've done some testing - mine was at 100% when I took it off the wall charger yesterday morning and I let it go about 24 hours without plugging it back in - this morning it was at just over 50%, which I think is amazing. However, once I plug it back into the charger it does seem to take a while to get back to 100%. That being said, within my first week with the phone I ordered two wireless charging docks - one for each end of the house. What a difference - it charges much faster and the convenience of just laying it down on the charger is awesome!
The plastic nubby covering the power port - yeah, I agree with that one - it is a pain and it probably won't last long on my phone.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by PosterX Best Phone I've ever laid hands on.
This is the best phone I've ever seen. It has the best processor available - the S4 Pro. 2GB of memory and hands down the best screen on the market. Amoled may make drawings vibrant, but the SLCD 3 screen on the DNA makes pictures look like a picture that seems to draw you in with their accurate color and incredibly fine detail. Even though it's a 5 inch display, the tapered back combined with the all glass front make it fit in the hand better than the 4.7 inch competitors.
The camera is great - especially in low light. I've got some great pics using the continuous shoot mode. At 4 pics per second, I get just the shot I want.
At first I wondered about the battery, but I'm finding I'm easily getting 16+ hours of use with 2 to 3 hours of screen on time.
I did pick up a 3 inch $1.99 OTG cable to put my kids movies on a 32GB usb drive, to save space. I just throw it in the Headphone pouch
* The DNA consistently gets the best 4G reception of any phone I compare it to.
* The 2 audio amps really boost the "loudness" without any clipping.
* Call sound was fine. Not better than other quality headsets, but definitely not worse.
* I get Wifi connection in parts of my house that are dead spots for most other devices.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by bellken Droid DNA - a great phone
The Droid DNA is a great phone with a 5 inch 1080 p screen. It has the best display on the market. Some users have complained about the battery size, but, typically, those that have complained do not own one. HTC has done a masterful job of power management with the DNA.
The front camera is wide angle which allow you to capture a wider picture. The Gallery s/w will also group your pictures to make multiple events, if you take a multitude of pictures in a day.
The only limitations I think are:
- the limited storage may be a problem for some users, but, I am not close to running out, and, I think most users will not have problem with 11 Gb of internal memory.
- and, the awful Droid sound screech, when you turn on the phone.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Nightangel79 Best Phone on the Market
My Time with the DROID DNA by HTC has been the best phone experience I've had since jumping on the smartphone wagon in 2008.
When I first received the phone the first thing that really stood out was the AMAZING screen. Truly unparrelled by ANY phone, period.
Next thing I noticed is that this was the smoothest UI I'd ever experienced. The phone simply flew through everything I did. The initial setup when I added my 100+ apps went so fast I kept thinking I forgot about a bunch of stuff.
The next biggest thing that stood out to me was that those first couple days, when I played with the phone constantly, never putting it down for more than a minute, the battery life was ROCKIN! I got 14 hours off a charge, then 16, then 30. Now that the battery is broke in and my usage has normalized, I go through a 14 hour day and only plug my phone in when I go to bed, usually phone is at around 20% life left. Absoluytely steller if you ask me.
Storage space is not as much as I'd hoped but out of the 12gigs usable space I still have 5 and a half available. So I am thinking I won't have any problems on that front.
All in all this is by far the best phone HTC has ever released, and very possibly is the best phone PERIOD on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by treadwayj Just a great phone
i was worried about it not having a removable battery, but that was erased within a couple of days of use. Despite the huge HD screen this thing sips battery and easily gets me though an entire day. The screen is beautiful to look at with a wide viewing area.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by MommyMentor The Droid DNA ROCKS! Photos, battery, and all...it's AMAZING!
I have been NOTHING but impressed with the DROID DNA, which I have had since day one. It takes everything we have all come to love in Androids and made it better with the new version of Sense that is faster and lighter.
The screen is FANTASTIC! We watch movies on it, take photos and use it for everything. Movies ROCK on the DNA and the photo quality is insane. We never miss a moment on camera now with the DNA as it captures photos incredibly fast with impeccable quality.
I push this phone to the max as I work from it a great deal (major pro of that 5 inch screen!) and at the end of the day I have half, if not a bit more, battery left. The battery life on the DROID DNA is a clear positive.
On a fun note, one thing I enjoy the most about the DNA is when it catches the attention of an iPhone fan and they can't help but love it...it has been referred to as the iKiller. :)

Rated 5 out of 5Â by zlanguy Loved it, but returned it
I have been an HTC fan for years. I still have my Verizon Thunderbolt. I have rooted it, upgraded it, tweaked it, uninstalled all the bloatware and have it configured exactly as I like it.
But I wanted a phone with a little bigger screen, a little lighter, better battery life and the truth is that I am ready for a new gadget anyway. So I bought the Droid DNA with high hopes. And most of those hopes were met. The specs, look, feel and performance and fantastic.. ya gotta love that screen. And the new version of Sense is very nice. It is just my style.
However... I just could not stand the shape. It is too long for the width in my opinion. The aspect ratio width to length is wrong. It leaves space on the side of pictures and movies. I held it portrait and it is too thin, hold it landscape and it is too wide for what displays.. pictures and movies are more the 4x6 or 3x5 ratio. Things just didn't fit right. Everything is perfect on that phone except that.. if they had just shifted the ratio just a little.. so it was a little wider and a little shorter... not much, but just a little.. since screen size is measure diagonally, they still could have had a 5" screen but had it look a little more correct.
Second and third... the ability to add memory and remove the battery were also things I wish the phone had. But for me.. it was just the shape that made it so I couldn't live with the phone.
But other than that, simply awesome!

Seemed like a good phone, but lasted only a week. The phone dropped a mere 2 inches and the screen shattered. Device was protected as well.
Had been using an HTC Droid Incredible, which lasted years had been dropped many times.
Be warned, this device only needs the slightest edge to shatter it. HTC should know better. Phones get dropped.

I love this phone! This is the best phone I've ever had! The only problem I've had so far is it makes a soft ringing sound occasionally. I took my phone back to verizon and they said a software update will most likely fix it. So, I'm going to wait it out and see if that happens. I hope so, because I am really enjoying this phone!

For the past 2months I have been shopping around for the Best Android phone out thete. I found it with the new HTC DROID DNA. Not only is the display incredible, but the speed, the sound, the feel & sleek design is astounding.
1)Power Button-The power button is located on top(instead of side). This takes A LOT to get used to. Especially when the button barely is exposed.
2)Glass-With the display glass beveled around sides for a better look, it also is a easier 'chip hazard'. Having the phone for only 2days, and haven't found the case I wanted, I dropped my phone, and sure enough the side chipped, and instantly turned my smile upside down. I strongly recomend a case at time of purchase.
Stop Searching and Enjoy this Great Product.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Lesterik HTC Takes the Cake
It is by far, the answer to all my HTC qualms. Of my three HTC devices in my smart phone purchases, and this one is the "german black forrest" of sweetness. I was one decision away from leaving the Android world altogether for the iPhone5. Just hold on, says Samsung with its GS III, and HTC W8 phones. The great thing about Techy friends and family is, they are test beds for the newest gadgets "we all want" and eventually pick up secondhandedly.
Three simple reasons for my educated purchase of the HTC DNA: Visually beauty, Quadcore speed, and Beats Audio.
The beauty starts with the second you pick this baby up and see the way the glistening gorilla glass spills over the edge. The 1080 screen is like no other compared to my wife's iPhone. No contest ,300 dpi vs 400dpi. Download the Currents App, and view high def pix in 500px, and you'll see what I mean.
The Quad core, 2g speed and memory makes multitasking to the max. Your fingers are not fast enough to keep pace with this device. I also noticed I had No Dropped Calls. Plus, sound quality during calls was tested with the TV turned up, and two people talking at normal volume in the background. The person I spoke to on the other end heard me clearly, without being annoyed by them.
The Beat goes on with the audio sound from Beats Audio. It's not all about hip hop sounds, but it gives all my music a crisp, clean, punch when it kicks on.
Can't stop lauding about how much this HTC smartphone pops. The thing that was almost a deal-breaker was the lack of an SD slot, but I like the cloud service anyway. The battery lasted from sun up past bedtime. I worked this phone over too with excessive usage. Love is a word I would use for people I have deep feelings for. HTC DNA is cake. Try it, and your pupils will dilate after you get a taste.

This is the best phone I've ever owned in my life. It gets me through the whole day with ease, if I don't use it it comes home with practically 70% of the battery on it. Since I am a moderate user, sometimes when i do push it a little it comes down to 30%, but the battery definitely is sufficient. And the best part is the amazing display, combined with the speed of the phone, that gives you the best smartphone in the U.S. Keep it up HTC. I LOVE the performance on this device, can't complain. Can't wait to see what comes next.

The phone is a beast though better than my iphone when it comes to speed and personalization android has truly stepped up. They need to stop making so many different phones and focus on keeping a solid line of devices going like the evo line i wanna see a DNA 2 in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by asellers01 Best of the 3
At Christmas, I was making my first smartphone purchase. I was torn. I researched the iPhone5, Galaxy S3, and the DNA. Size, Camera, Battery, Look, etc.
I liked the idea of a larger screen than the iphone.
However, I liked the idea of Siri. S3 advertised one, but reviews were bad on it.
S3 was too Feminine Looking, so I took it out.
The DNA came across more rugged, better specs, felt great to hold, fit in my pocket, and is ahead of apple on a few things, like Widgets and NFC (not much use for it now though.) Oh, and the phone will set reminders and make calls by voice, just like Siri. Plus if you need more comical feed back, there are apps for that.
As my first smartphone, I love it. Battery life is not great. I cannot get to the end of my day without battery warnings at 14%, and I am not a heavy user, so not sure what drains it. I like the idea of a charging pad, but I haven't gotten that yet.
Back to NFC, Google wallet is an excellent idea, but it's not available on this device. I read this is verizon's fault.
The Widgets are great. This is having the screens actually function for you rather than just holding icons, like the iphone.
Holding this device is much more comfortable than holding the iphone. (My wife got the iphone at the same time I got the DNA.) There is less pressure on my hand holding the DNA. My hand isn't having to sqeeze down to the size of the DNA.
Slow motion video is awesome.
The internal usable storage is only 11 GB, not 16. This does not bother me. Got a lot of music? upload it to google, as they allow 20,000 songs on cloud storage.

The phone has been the best phone that I have used. I enjoy how fast and responsive the phone is every time it is turned on. It is fluidly smooth! Viewing pictures and videos has been amazing. The pixel density makes viewing webpages, ebooks, and magazines easily readable. My previous HTC phones and tablet does not compare to how well viewing the screen is. It is amazing. Pairing my phone to a JayBird Bluetooth headphone makes the experience of listening to audio books and music 1000x better! The battery and on board storage capacity surprised me the most. I had plenty of storage left after adding my music and pictures, most surprisingly was the batter left. By the end of the day, I had roughly 40-50 percent battery life left. I'm thankful I made the decision to buy an awesome product.
