Rated 4 out of 5Â by notbrian Good value beginner's smartphone
I bought this phone as a trial smartphone, as I will not have a huge amount of use. I have been impressed with almost every aspect of the phone. The one negative aspect is that it does not have sufficient internal memory for the few applications I want to run. i have had to buy a 32G memory card to improve this but I still get continuous warnings from the phone about memory being low.
As a phone it is very good and internet access via WiFi is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by LackyB Great Little Phone
Bought this phone to replace an ageing iphone 3G, really pleased with it, really fast processor helps things nip along and loads of apps to download, the internal memory could be a bit bigger but you can upgrade with an SD card easily, great value for money.

the phone is very easy to use and the texting system is exemplary, i particularly like the use of threads on the texting system, the phone seems to be hardy as well and this is perfect for me as i tend to be quite lax with taking care with my phones :P i definitely recommend this htc product, considering when you look at the price, which is the lowest i've seen anywhere. definitely buy it from asda!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Digigeezer Small but perfectly formed
This is a perfect phone for a Smart phone beginner or someone who is not very confident with technology per se. Someone who wants email and web access on a portable mobile device but not lots of apps to play with or confuse things (due to the limited memory available). I bought this for my wife's birthday and she absolutely loves it! Its simple to use and set up and appears to be of fine build quality. This is a really good phone for the price asked.

This is a great phone for the money. Th only slight problem is that the screen is a bit insensitive when tapped - some might find this an advantage.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Problemsolver1 Useful android mobile
A compact and easy-to-use mobile touchphone. I liked the capacitative screen. It is very reasonably priced, but I was disappointed to find that I had to obtain a mini SD card for it, at extra cost, to obtain full use of many features.

I have resisted the talk in the office as everyone else has compared their I-Phones, with Blackberries and Galaxies. Why would I need to do that. Until, I say the HTC Explorer. No expensive contracts for me, no complicated manuals or need to register on line to receive downloads of instructions. I received my phone in the post, put my Sim Card in and away I went. I now have my music, photographs, videos and access to the internet should I need it. The phone is totally intuitive. Turn it on, touch the Icon you want, they call it an App apparently, I have not bothered learning about Androids or the like, perhaps sometime in the future when I have a bit of spare time. I could, if I was that way inclined, join in all the buzz around facebook and other social websites, but for now I am still a private person and don't yet feel the need to follow the minutae of other peoples lives. Perhaps in the future. But this phone makes it all available for me, at just a little of 100 pound, when my old phone needed replacing anyway. I feel as though I made a giant step forward, and don't feel exhausted by the effort. Recommended for anyone who is not really sure whether they need a Smartphone or not.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by jd20 Great phone but unsuported
This seems to be a great phone but HTC and Vodafone do not have on line support for it. HTC do not know why they have on line support for the other models but not explorer. That means that there is no user information. If my family had not sorted me out there is no way I could get started with it.
As it is I am having lots of problems & can't send emails...see the blogs on that one!!!!
Basically you have to phone vodafone tech every time you want to do anything at all.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by maggieann simple to use but no camera flash
I've had mine less than a week so I'm still finding my way round this phone. The 1st hurdle was no instruction book-an excellent start. After my daughter set it all up and I'd used it a few times we realised there's no flash for the camera. What good is that for indoor/evening photos? I wasn't told that when I upgraded otherwise I would have chosen a different model. It's a nice phone but not good for family photos unless you're outside!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Barsty Fast, easy to use, excellent all round phone
Giving a blanket 5 star review can seem really insincere, but I mean it with this phone! Having been pretty impressed with my HTC Tattoo, I decided to stick with what I imagined was a similar model. In just 18 months HTC have improved all areas of their phones - the screen is bright and clear, the touch pad responsive (web browsing is really easy thanks to the pinch and spread method of zooming in and out!), the connectivity to wi-fi networks is so easy, and the automatic switch when you get home from mobile internet to wi-fi is really handy.
The texting conversation display is really helpful and the onscreen keyboard is a great size. Even if it looks fiddly, if you just press in the right area the phone normally guesses correctly what you were trying to say!
It's only real con is that the camera is poor - but that wasn't what I bought it for, most phone cameras aren't a patch on a decent digital camera. I would also point out that the phone doesn't come with an SD card which isn't essential but if you're planning on downloading large apps you'll need one.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Explorer Great smart phone especially for 1st timers
Had this phone since Nov 2011 and love it. It’s my 1st smart phone; I am quite a techie but not much of a phone user so just wanted something simple and easy for phoning, texting, internet, email & a few select apps. This phone fits the bill. Compact, nice bright screen, easy to use touch screen keyboard, great for texting. Simple to set up and I love the main screen with icons for all the essentials like mail, messages, calendar, camera & internet all together in one place. The camera is not its greatest feature but I didn’t get it for that, so if you want to move to a smart phone but don't want any hassle learning to use it this is the phone to pick. User manual and instructions are available on HTC website if needed.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by CrosbyPR Great entry phone for anyone new to smartphones
This was my first smartphone. My heart sank when I realised there was no manual in the packing box but, although, I downloaded a copy of this to my Mac (direct from HTC), I never actually needed it. The phone settings are very intuitive and it was simple to move from the default set up to a customised computer-like, one-tap widget style screen. If you social network, or sell and buy online, then downloading apps for the likes of Facebook, Twitter, eBay and Amazon is a simple affair. I also downloaded Dr Web Anti-virus, which is easy to use and update and seems to work well with this particular phone.
Having been an Apple Mac user for close to 20 years, I wanted a phone that would also interact with my Macs. I had initially thought about an iPhone but, to be honest, the HTC Explorer works seamlessly with either PCs or Macs. And, of course, there is a huge price difference between the two.
The FM Radio is excellent. I'm using Sennheiser in-ear headphones and they sound terrific. The screen does sometimes pick up fingerprints but these wipe off cleanly with a piece of tissue.
A very savvy smartphone, in my opinion and I'd certainly consider another HTC when it comes around to future upgrades.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Alex100:) Great phone!
I have had this phone for nearly a month now and I think it is great! I have previously had a Samsung phone so I thought I would try HTC as everyone is talking about it these days and it is really good! It's my first android phone and It has all the features I want. I think the android market is particularly good as a lot of the apps are free!
The memory is not good but once I bought a 8 GB SD card it is all good! The battery is not the best but they never are with the new phones!
So I really suggest this phone as it is very easy to use and had all the features you need! :)

i have recently bought the phone for chirstmas, and the this phone has next to nothing in terms of memory , i also have a 2gb sd card , but hardle any apps are allowed to move to the card, if you are on alot of social network sites , this phone is not for you, (takes up to much internal memory),
some of andriod apps are not compatible with this phone which is a big let down,
other than that its good , it very good for the price ,

I hav had this phone 4 about 1 week, and its sick, it has lots of cool features, only shame is that it did n't come with a micro sd, one thing u need to remember is that its small and compact so it does do anything like an iphone.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Piggy A good introduction to smartphones
My first smartphone so if you're already used to them my review may not carry as much weight.
It's a very well built and good looking phone with a decent enough screen size, which happens to be very responsive, a little too responsive for me at the moment because my previous phone had a resistive screen.
On the whole, performance is very solid, responsive with little sign of lag, although I've not put that many apps on it just yet. Call quality seems fine. Trace texting is great and works very well, although I'm not sure if I need to calibrate the screen a little, as it does seem a little off sometimes.
Internal memory could be bigger but if you do a factory reset prior to setting it up you can squeeze a little more out of it. Battery seems to be OK for this type of phone, although I have turned off lesser used settings like bluetooth etc. Camera isn't particularly good, especially in a dark enviroment.
However, as the phone is packed with features and seems to be performing well (only had it a few days) I'd say that it's a good purchase for the price.

The phone was brilliant with excellent features and performance. it is very ease to use as well but the back side panel was a bit disappointing, it is made of rubber material and the most disappointing thing is that the phone doesn't come with 'Headset'.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Marrod What a phone - what value!
My 3rd HTC, I started with an HTC Tytan11, then had an HTC Hero, and they just get better. Ok, NO flash for the camera - but if there was people would complain about the battery life. As it is the battery life is great. 2 days with constant use, plus lots of web browsing. And if you want to take photo's, use a camera.
No instruction book - but it's a phone. Hardly rocket science. And you can download an instruction book from HTc site.
Talking of HTC site, if you have any queries you can email them and someone gets back to you really quickly with an answer.
This phone is bright, light and responsive. Graphics are great. Sound is great. You would pay a lot more for less features with many other phones. I cannot fault it nor sing it's praises enough.

This phone is a great touch screan and i love the buttons at the bottom the screan. This phone is great, typing is a little hard.
My only dislike is teh battery life is short but the time to charge is really quick so it makes up.
This phone is in my opinion better than the iPhone! Plus really cheap for a great phone.
