This phone has had nothing but problems. Despite numerous crashes i've had to reset the phone twice now due to issues with the music volume not working. I can't get a new one because there's technically "nothing wrong with the phone," so every time i just have to reset it and go through the whole set up again. The phone is also very awkward for me to hold and it's hard to press the top button with one hand. It looks awesome, but it isn't as smooth as my iPhone was. Another problem I have is the pitiful app store. I've been waiting a long time for apps like instagram and other popular ones to come out. If you ask me an iPhone is a much better choice. The 8X was not ready for production if you ask me, it's got a lot of problems that need fixing.

It feels like HTC as a company have given up on their HTC 8x and not putting any effort in continuing to make this phone any better. There are only 6 apps for this phone by HTC, and only 2 of them are actually somewhat usable. If you have HTC 8x in smaller countries then most of good apps by main HTC competitor will not work (Here Drive for example). The beatsaudio, when enabled makes the music blast in the headphones without the ability to control the volume - only on MAX. So if you are not living in UK, USA, Spain, Germany or Mexico - find different phone to buy. Otherwise, it's an alright phone.

I have owned this phone for a week. On the third day, it fell off of a table and hit a tile floor, cracking the screen. I am stuck with a broken phone because it is poorly built. My previous phone was the HTC Thunderbolt. That phone was dropped, stepped on, kicked, handed to children, and had glasses of liquids dropped on it. I purchased the Windows 8X by HTC because of HTC and the high quality that the Thunderbolt had. Unfortunately I was wrong. This will be the last HTC I purchase, and if you feel like if at any time during the next two years your phone might fall onto a hard surface, perhaps HTC isn't the right manufacturer for you either.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by CareerITGuy Best Phone I Have Owned
Had the phone 6 months now. Still love it. Better than my iPad and way better than my previous phone (Samsung Galaxy). The Widows interface is so good. I had one problem about 30 days ago where the phone loses it's connection. This a fairly common problem well documented around the web. Mine was fixed simply by replacing the SIM which T-Mobile did for free.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by KittyToes This is the worst phone.
This is the worst I've ever had the misfortune to own.
I got a Windows Phone 8X in January of this 2013 and in that time I've had two break, 2 screens shatter, and on top of that I've had two other screens mysteriously stop working in long strips across the screen, making it impossible to even dial numbers. I'm a disabled women and this phone is my only contact to the outside world. I'm sure you could imagine how frustrating it is when you can't even dial 911 because the screen refuses to dial the number.
I liked this phone in the beginning, but the money I've spent trying to keep it working is ridiculous. And the fact that it continues to be unreliable has actually become a hazard for me. I've gone through three of these phones in less than a year, and still two more screens after that. Even after buying a case for it, it still stopped working again. This phone is actually costing me more money than its worth and making it quiet difficult to even keep up with the phones actual bill when I spend most of my money trying to keep it working enough to be able to call for help in an emergency.
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! ITS NOT WORTH IT.
I do recommend the windows 8 OS but the WINDOWS PHONE 8X BY HTC IS TERRIBLE A PHONE.
As I said before its insanely unreliable, your so much better off with one of the other windows phones.
Again DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!

This phone is great. Its fast it has brilliant screen graphics the camera is awesome and just everything about it is great. HTC made a very good investment with this phone as it is way faster than some other phones ive seen and it definitely has a better camera. The back portion was a very nice touch Its smooth but not too smooth to where it will slip. And very nice work with beats audio. Hoping to see an even better version of this phone in the future!

This phone is actually really great...if you don't need phone functionality. 9/10 times I have to reset my phone to send a text. My mic is broken. I have not mistreated it in any way. I have had the phone for about a month. All is great about it, but as you can see the ease of use is very very low because it oftentimes does not work at all

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Charlief The HTC Windows Phone 8x is one of the best phones I've ever used. Period.
I have had a lot of experience with many different OS's and phones, from the Iphone 4, 4s and 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2, Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Ativ S as well as other devices such as the Nokia Lumia 820, 920 and 925. And i can say with the utmost confidence that this is the best mobile platform out of them all. The screen may not be 1080p, but the colour and contrast is incredible. I would swap my Iphone 5 for the htc 8x anyday. And it so happens i did and i am not regretting it for a moment. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Aukill Windows Phone 8 + HTC = Perfect Phone
Despite the killing updates delivered by Microsoft. Windows Phone 8X by HTC is one of the best phones I ever had.
Simple to use, beautifull... this phone has everything that a user needs: performance, simplicity, all your stuff and on top of that it's elegant.
Just hope the next Windows Phone 8 device made by HTC will continue with htc's standards...

Ive had this phone for around 3 months now.. Its been ad really good phone to use. My only problem is up untill now, the battery life has been amazing. However. If i let my phone go to critically low and then charge it. No matter if its been on charge for hours it will then say its full and go straight back to critically low instantly. Then the only way to get it to charge is turn it off and on. Apart from that highly recommend

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Amie15us Not the best
I have had the HTC 8x for probably 3 months now. The sound quality is great when hooked up to AUX in my car. Screen is bright and lovely to look at. Battery life is very poor. I have to keep my charger with me where ever I go or risk having a dead phone. Also, memory is very small. I already had to go through and delete some apps. I don't exactly down load much either! My biggest complaints? You cannot remove the battery, so if that fails your SOL. Also, I have been getting a "SIM Card error. Emergency calls only." on my phone. Which seems to be a common theme with the phone. I am getting a replacement via AT&T. Refurbished however, through manufacturer. Windows phones do not have a large selection of apps, either. Sadly, I find that we are left behind. Will probably switch back to an android when the time comes. Disappointing, for this windows hopeful.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by RachelL Missing functionality - annoying
It's always the small things that count and there are multiple that are missing from the 8X. First of all, there needs to be a way to tab to different fields when filling out forms. Having to touch away from the field and into the next field you want is really annoying. In the email setup, there should be a way to automatically download pictures from all my emails. It gets annoying to have to click to download the pictures every time I open a new email message. Also, when I am in an email and delete it, I don't want to go back out to my list of email messages, I want to be taken to my next email message. Another huge issue is with the text messaging functionality. When someone texts me and other people at the same time (mass text#, the phone does not indicate in any way that the message was sent to more people than just myself. So if I want to reply to multiple people #the whole list that the first text message was sent to#, I have no easy way to do this. First I would need to ask the sender who the message was sent to, then I would need to create a new message and list out all of the recipients. The same issue happens when I'm the sender of a mass text. There is no way of knowing from the responses I get whether or not the sender replied all or just intended for the message to be sent to me.
All of these little #or big depending on your opinion) issues add up to some real annoyance and frustration. It's the little things that count and it shouldn't take much to fix these issues!

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Purplelover Very unhappy with this phone!
Sim card reader issues since I got the phone, had the sim card replaced after 5 months, then screen cracked which was upsetting because it is supposed to be gorilla glass. Now the sim card reader having issues again & Verizon will not replace the sim card or the phone because the screen is cracked even though this issue happened before cracked screen!!!! Not happy! I now have a phone that works only some of the time, shuts down & states no sim card 4-6 times per day!!!! Paying for service I cannot use! Was recommending this phone when I first got to all my friends but have since then told them to stay away. Did not go with the iphone because I wanted to be different but look where that got me!!!

This is my first smartphone and I couldn't wait to get a WP8 to go with WIn8 on my laptop. Everything works great together. The phone works well, and it is easy to use and understand all its bells and whistles.
A great first smartphone.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Slim Briliant phone, smooth os - battery life is not good, good do with more apps
I've had my Wndows 8X for about 3 weeks, I like it. It's smooth, it's intuitive, clear calls, sharp photo's.
Quite a few usefull apps available. Touch screen is good.
I've dropped it a few times, with a gel case, and it has survived.
Only problem I have is the battery life, and why is the battery built in ? If we could change the batteries, it would allow high usage users to carry a spare battery around

Rated 2 out of 5Â by JFos Not enough memory and the battery life stinks
I love this phone however I am disappointed that I can't and an SD card. I love music and have a lot of it. Now I only have 1G left of space, that stinks. And the battery life well there is no life to the battery. And it keeps randomly shutting down which is very annoying. Other than that I do love this phone and the Windows 8 platform.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Julian1961 The Best Decision I Ever Made!
I really wanted a Windows Phone 8 and I was leaning towards a Nokia Lumia 920 but as of this review they still didn't have any stock in Australia, so I bought an HTC 8X instead! I couldn't be happier with this phone and I'm glad HTC saw fit to have stock readily available upon the official launch and pricing in Australia. The 8X in California Blue is the best looking phone I've ever had and people stop and stare at it in amazement. The camera is great, the battery life is good and the Beats audio is mind blowing. Do yourself a favour and support the company that lives in our world, HTC.

Top-notch performance. Phone technology and WIndowsphone 8 working well. Plenty of apps for most (but less than iPhone/Android). My personal phone with personal and work email. Easy adds and sync options. Super Skydrive and MS Office usage integration. Easily added ringtone app-works super. Bing maps works well. Camera and photostream great. Skydrive integration makes moving items a snap. WIsh battery had more time, but it works.
