Overall i'm pretty happy with my phone except for one major issue that I face.
The phone storage is very limited!
In the settings when i view the memory distribution:there about 350 mb of installed apps, alomost none for photos/videos(i store them on the SD card) and there is about 1GB of data under other storage, which i cannot view or delete. That leaves me with very little space to install new apps. And my phone is hardly 4 months old!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by BradC Great mid-range smartphone.
This phone is excellent for light - medium use. I agree that the storage is a bit of a problem, since you can't install apps to the SD card but I don't download many apps anyway, and I'm still in the clear as far as memory goes.
Since Microsoft's devices use very little RAM, it's very fast with zero lag or choppiness when switching apps, or scrolling the homescreen. It comes with some handy apps like flashlight, which has 3 brightness settings for the camera LED, which I thought was impressive.
The live tiles are a definite plus, with the option to move and resize them.
It feels good in my hands, and the rubberized casing makes for a good grip on the device.
I don't like the option of not being able to remove the battery in case anything ever happens to it, but it's better than having to take the battery out to switch SD or SIM cards.
Overall this is a great phone. I recommend it to anyone who wants something different than an Android phone, and something more user friendly than IOS.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jogi6 GREAT HARDWEARE – USSLES OS
So where do I begin. After 2 months of use, storage situation is like this.
Phone: (all off this should be 0 MB, expect apps and system. + there is Other????. On PC all folders are empty)
3.39 GB / 3.61 GB used
Music + videos – 97.04 MB
Pictures – 6.21 MB
Apps 444.05 MB
Other – 961.05 MB (nobody knows what this is and it is growing)
System 1.92 GB
Free space – 219.61 MB
2.25GB / 14.65 GB used
All off my pictures, videos and music are on SD card
And beside storage problems, u can’t install anything on SD only store pictures, music, videos. And all off my pictures and music have multiple files on phone but only one physical file. You take a photo and in you’r albums you have somewhere between 2-5 copies of same picture. Music is worse either I have copies of same album with only one song in each one or I have one album with multiple copies of some song
(1. Song name
1. Song name
1. Song name
2. Next song name
2. Next song name
2. Next song name
3. Next next song name…)
You decide if you want to buy it, as I sad it is a great hardware, but terrible OS
I would put Android if I could any day. And I am locking into that.

I watched a lot of reviews of this phone on youtube and I could not wait to get one myself. And when I did, I was so happy and excited. But after a day of use, I've already been through every feature on this phone and filled the internal memory. When I realized I can't put apps on SD card I was so sad and angry that I literally started crying. My 6 month fantasy has been ruined. Also, I realized that this phone does not support NFC. More damage to my heart. Even though it has only 4GB of internal memory, does not have a front facing camera and does not support NFC, it is a very good phone. The SD card and cache issue and very small amount of apps, that is strictly microsofts problem. It's not HTCs fault that the Windows Phone OS is so limited. HTC 8S with Android OS on it would be a lovely combination. However, the phone I wanted so badly has been returned from where it came from.

I hate this phone!! It leaves screen imprints, when I play a song with a album cover. The sound isn't that loud for having beats audio!! I can't seem to use my sd card music as a ringtone!! It added all Facebook contacts automatically! I hate it! Miss my blackberry.

I bought this phone for business purposes. Love the way it integrates so sweetly with PC software, and the ease of email attachements is great for Word and Excel etc.
Doesn't break the bank either.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by DHarding Nice phone easy to use
I should begin by saying this is my first smartphone, I've found it a very enjoyable experience. The phone is robust and extremely easy to use. The Windows operating system is very useful for me as I often have MS Office attachments to my e-mails, these are dealt with very well without text or figures moving around. The People part of the system is also excellent for catching up with social media. The only real negative is that the camera is very slow and the pictures a little pixelated so if you like to take pictures with a phone this might be a problem for you. Others have complained about the battery life but as I don't use the phone aggressively this isn't a problem for me. Overall the phone looks good, works well and is incredibly easy to use.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by gemmabump13 worst phone i have ever had
I am on my second htc windows 8s now due to the first one i dropped and screen cracked straight away, my second one i bought a screen protector and a leather case to prevent this occurring it fell out of my pocket this morning on my laminate floors with the case on and the screen has smashed,
i previously had a blackberry curve had that for 2 years not one problem,
Accidents do happen and your bound to drop your phone, i am very annoyed at htc for inventing a phone that isnt as strong as they say it is.
i am a carefully person and looks after my belongings .
Very disapointed i will know have to pay another £50 for a phone i dont want.

This was not my first HTC but might be my last. Battery won't last a day If emailing frequently or busy with calls. Speaker has now stopped working, won't get it repaired so have a six months old phone which if I call someone or if someone calls me they can't here me. Not handy! The blue rubber is also all coming off the corners, so it doesn't look very pleasant any more. Memory is rather small as well. I hope these problems getting sorted out as I have had HTCs for 8 years now! I don't want to have to change phone manufacture!

I had to get used to it, because it is smaller than my previous windows phone.
The HTC Titan, which I still miss.
The only regret that I have is that I did not buy the HTC 8X.

Its been 6 months I bought this phone and never had a issue with the phone. Look of the phone is really unique and feels amazing. Sound quality of beats is improved from previous versions of HTC you will have the ultimate sound experience. It falls at Internal storage buts its not a issue unless you use 10-15 daily that would rarely happen. Its the best phone for the current price in Windows Phone Line.

Rated 2 out of 5Â by ChaB A brilliant concept with poor execution!
I switched to htc 8S back in February and was blown away by the potential. 5 months later unfortunately the phone is not holding up, the rubber skin has worn off (annoyingly not covered in warranty) and apparently a lot of people are facing this issue and is something you don't ever expect from htc...my previous phone was htc hd win phone lasted me 3 yrs without an issue. Memory got filled up really soon but cannot say much cause I knew it before buying the phone..the phone in itself is brilliant in design and looks but I am absolutely disappointed with the build on this..would not recommend it for people buying a phone for more than 6 months. Being a true htc loyalist...on this one Htc your all wrong and I am paying for it cause the phone has plenty of issues like repairing the power button.. battery life poor..processor inadequate..just that it looks good! Cover issues like rubber wearing off in warranty please as the phone looses the sole reason for buying it...definately guys don't buy this one!!!

Rated 2 out of 5Â by PythonesqueSpam Wot! No more apps
I've had HTC phones for years, with my last phone being a HTC HD7 and the one before that being a HTC HD2. I bought the HTC 8S knowing that it only had a rear facing camera, no compass and only 4gb of internal memory. With an Micro SD Card I can increase the phone memory by an extra 32Gb right... WRONG. The Micro SD Card can only be used for putting music onto the phone and little else. The 4Gb fills up very quickly with apps (say 5 or 6 if you are lucky) and for any OS updates you have to remove apps. You can't install apps or their data to the Micro SD Card so you are stuck with a measly 4Gb. Windows 8 is certainly not getting the best out of this phone, which to be fair is Microsoft's fault. The Camera is average and gets streaky if you are not absolutely steady when it snaps. The GUI is a little laggy especially on opening the Music app and have a lot of music on the phone, where you have to wait a minute or two. I've had occasional reboots once of twice a week but other than that Windows 8 seems resonably stable. The phone is disappointing and certainly not up to the high standards of the previous HTC phones I've owned. Would I recommend this phone? Only if you can't afford the buy anything else... and use the phone just to make calls and little else. Would I buy another HTC phone with Windows on it... a definite NO!!!

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Mgramcy I shouldn't bought this phone
Hi, I bought this phone 1 month ago. The first Cons. of this phone is the memory, because user available is 1.5 gb. U can't install much apps and u can't erase unwanted others files in setting. And another big problem is. If u have downloaded any pdf file u can't able to delete it. Then how u want to delete things up. And u can't install apps on your SDcard like in other android phones. The beats audio is made awesome the headphones and the cons is the phone speaker are not supported with the beats audio like other htc android phones. Battery consumption, icons if u were using wifi, in 10 minutes browsing internet, 6 percent battery gone. Well so far the apps in store need to improve. But the design and look is good.

At first 1 month it was awesome phone with long life battery, Since yesterday night I check for windows update via wifi but there were no update. Then at the time it was 97 % battery life and shows 3 days... And I've got set in battery saver mode. When see that today morning it shows 17 % battery life remaining. Holly cow. So is there any explanation for this? I wish this problem will not happen again. I've got use Nokia lumia 620 previously but there is no problem like this. Now I'm frustrating why I bought windows phone rather than android. Please do give me some details why this happens.
