Media Link HD v1.5 supports devices running on Sense 4 and Sense 4+. To verify the software of your device, please tap on All apps > Settings > About >
Software information > Sense version.
NOTE: Pin code enabling, WiFi connection improvement and 5G hot spot are only supported on Sense 4+ devices, and Sense 4+ will provide better experience together with ML-HD v1.5.
A:
Yes, you can upgrade Media Link HD to the latest version.
To check for updates through your phone, please follow the steps below:
[HTC Sense 4+]:
With your phone connected to the HTC Media link HD, slide the Notification panel open.
Tap HTC Media Link HD (Connected) > HTC Media Link HD settings > Check for updates.
NOTE: Your phone will check if Media Link HD firmware is out of date and automatically upgrade Media Link HD firmware.
[HTC Sense 4.0 and 4.1]:
HTC Media Link HD needs to have Internet access through your Wi-Fi router to check for updates.
On your phone, slide the Notifications panel open.
Tap Settings > More > HTC Media link HD.
When you see your HTC Media Link HD listed under "Available devices", tap it. (Make sure your HTC Media Link HD is set to "Off")
Tap Advanced settings > Check for updates.
NOTE: Your phone should be connected to a Wi-Fi network or 3G/4G network to update the software.

Yes. When the accessory is not connected to any Wi-Fi network, the accessory automatically enables hotspot which allows the phone to wirelessly stream
contents from the phone.

Yes, you can just simply use the 3-finger swipe feature to instantly project the current content on the device, no matter you are on dual screen display or not connecting with ML-HD.
NOTE: 3-finger swipe on dual screen display only works on Sense 4+.

For any new devices trying to connect with Media Link HD v1.5 after the 1st pairing process is done, it would recognize them as guest and would require you to enter the PIN for security purposes.

Media Link HD v1.5 now supports MKV (H.264 HP, MPGE-4 SP, WMV v9, VC-1), OGG and FLAC so you can enjoy more content played on TV directly, no need to waste time to convert the files in those formats.

Please check the Sense version on your device. If your device is with HTC Sense 4.0 and 4.1 version, and you want to use Media Link HD in a corporate Wi-Fi environment, make sure IP multicasting is allowed on the network.

The major improvement will be “Wi-Fi connection enhancement” which will always use peer-to-peer mode when connecting Sense 4+ device to Media Link HD v1.5, and Sense 4+ device will automatically turn down the display bit rates to keep the smoothness of the media transferring during unstable Wi-Fi connections.

The Media Link HD v1.5 displays the Wi-Fi signal indicator on your TV while on idle to help user be aware of the Wi-Fi network.
