Answers to some common questions
A:
To enable automatic updating for the applications you have downloaded from the Android Market, from the home screen please press All apps > Market > MENU > My apps. This screen will show a list of applications that are currently installed on the handset. Please choose the application you want to automatically update and tap it to open. On the application description screen, put a check on Allow automatic updating.

NOTE 1: All apps is the square icon in the lower left corner of the home screen that opens the phone's application menu.

NOTE 2: An Internet connection (Wi-Fi, GPRS/3G, etc.) is required to access this service. Your mobile operator may charge for using GPRS/3G.

NOTE 3: This function requires Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G in order to work properly, and usage may shorten the handset's battery life. Please refer to "How can I prolong my handset's battery life?"
A:
By default, all applications on the handset are installed on the phone memory. An application can only be moved to the microSD card if it was designed by the developer to have that function.

To install applications to the microSD card, from the home screen please press MENU > Settings > Applications > Manage applications. Under the Downloaded tab, tap the application that you want to install on the microSD card then tap Move to SD card.

NOTE 1: If the Move to SD card option is grayed out, this means that the application does not have the capability to be installed on the microSD card. Please contact the developer for support details.

NOTE 2: You will not be able to use the applications on the SD card if the handset is on Disk drive mode connected to a computer.

You can open Android Market to browse and search for free and paid applications.

You can find Android Market by pressing All apps on the home screen > Market. To find an application in Android Market, you can: 1. Browse through featured applications. Scroll through the list of featured applications when you open Android Market. 2. Browse applications by categories. First, tap Apps or Games, and then tap a category, you can filter the applications by Top paid, Top free or Just in.

NOTE 1: To access Android Market, you must sign in to your Google Account first. Paid application availability will vary by region.

NOTE 2: An Internet connection (Wi-Fi, GPRS/3G, etc.) is required to access this service. Your mobile operator may charge for using GPRS/3G. Paid applications are available in specified territories only.

A:
Wi-Fi tethering is sharing your Internet with other Wi-Fi capable devices. The handset will act as a wireless router that will broadcast a wireless network, which can be picked up by Wi-Fi enabled devices. The handset will use it's data connection (3G/GPRS) for this function. Please be advised that your mobile operator may charge extra for data services.

To share your Internet to a Wi-Fi capable device please make sure that your data connection is turned on. From the home screen, press MENU > Settings > Wireless & networks check Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot. You can change the network name and secure the connection by tapping Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot settings. After configuring the settings, the handset will start broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name and you can connect up to eight devices. To stop sharing the Internet connection, please uncheck Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot.

NOTE 1: A mobile Internet connection (GPRS/3G) is required to access this service. Your mobile operator may charge for using GPRS/3G.

NOTE 2: This function requires GPRS/3G service in order to work properly, and usage may shorten the handset's battery life. Please refer to "How can I prolong my handset's battery life?"

Warning: Resetting your phone will erase your phone completely. Remember to backup your phone information and settings.

From the home screen please press MENU, then tap Settings > SD & phone storage > Factory data reset > Reset phone.

You can also perform a factory reset by using the buttons on the phone. 1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button. 2. Wait for the screen with the 3 Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button. 3. Press VOLUME DOWN to select CLEAR STORAGE, and then press POWER. 4. When asked to confirm, press VOLUME UP.

NOTE: Resetting your handset to factory or manufacturer's default setting will delete all the data stored on your phone memory, please backup your files first. To backup all of your personal information on your phone, please refer to "How do I backup my phone".
A:
There are two ways you can share your Internet to a compatible device: either through USB or you can use the handset as a portable wireless hotspot. Please make sure that you have an active mobile data connection on the handset in order to use these functions.

To share your Internet to a computer via USB, please connect the handset to a computer using the supplied USB cable and make sure that your data connection is turned on. From the home screen, please press MENU > Settings > Wireless & networks and check USB Tethering. The handset will start sharing the Internet connection to the computer. To stop sharing the Internet connection, please uncheck USB Tethering or simply disconnect the handset from the computer.

To share your Internet to a Wi-Fi capable device please make sure that your data connection is turned on. From the home screen, please press MENU > Settings > Wireless & networks and then check Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot. You can change the network name and secure the connection by tapping Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot settings then after configuring the settings. The handset will start broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name and you can connect up to eight devices. To stop sharing the Internet connection, please uncheck Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot.

To set-up a VPN connection, from the home screen please press MENU > Settings > Wireless & networks > VPN settings > Add VPN and select a type of VPN you want to create. Enter the VPN Settings then press MENU > Save when you are finished.

Your Google contacts, Google calendar and Gmail can be backed up to a Google server as long as you choose Google account when saving or creating calendar events and contacts.

NOTE 1: Resetting your handset to factory or manufacturer's default setting will delete all the data stored on your phone memory. Please backup your files first.

Yes. You can use the flash of the camera when you shoot videos under dim lighting conditions. Please do the following to enable the flash when shooting videos: from the home screen please press All apps > Camcorder. On the camcorder screen, tap the Flash icon to "on".

NOTE 2: The flash icon is the curved arrow beside the shutter button on the camera screen.

In order for this feature to function, you should have paired your phone to a compatible Bluetooth headset. To use voice dialing with a compatible Bluetooth device, please press and hold the SEARCH button on the handset and speak from the Bluetooth device. You can use keywords like "call ". For example, "call John Smith home" will call John Smith's home number.
