After the software update, I see HTC Mini‍+ under Settings. What is HTC Mini‍+?

HTC Mini‍+ is a companion device for HTC phones. If you need to multitask, such as browse the Web or read an email and take calls at the same time, you can purchase and use this device with your HTC phone.

Also, for phone models that don't have a built-in infrared sensor and the TV app, you can download the TV app and use HTC Mini‍+ as your TV remote.

See the user guide or how-tos to find out how to pair HTC Mini‍+ with your phone.

What are the changes in the Android 4.4.2 with HTC Sense 6 update?

There are changes made to how the notification LED and storage card work to follow the same behavior as Android 4.4.2.

Due to changes made by third-party service providers or apps, the following features are no longer supported in this update:

    • WEP and WPA security options in Portable Wi‍-Fi Hotspot
    • Flash and bookmark sync in the Internet app
    • Internet Radio, which is the TuneIn Radio app, in HTC Car

Also, due to the changes in the design of some HTC apps, the following features have been removed:

    • Turning on the phone automatically and sounding the alarm clock when the power is off
    • Merging, splitting, and renaming of events in Gallery
    • Access to online storage or social network albums in Gallery

Can't copy, move, or delete files, or save changes on the storage card?

Can't copy, move, or delete files, or save changes on the storage card?

There's a behavior change to the microSD card support. In Android 4.4.2 (KitKat), third-party apps will only be able to write to folders on the microSD card that these apps created or have taken ownership of. They won't be able to write to just anywhere on the card.

Google changed the design starting from this Android release to help protect microSD content. Apps which worked properly with microSD cards in previous Android releases such as Jelly Bean and Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) may not work as usual on Android 4.4.2 until the app developers update their apps to follow the Google KitKat design.

If you're experiencing this problem with your downloaded apps, try the following:

    • Switch to a preinstalled app that supports your files. Use it to edit and save changes to your files.
    • Sign in to a supported online storage service on your HTC phone. Copy, edit, and manage your files on your online storage.
    • To organize and manage photos and videos on your microSD card, use the HTC Gallery app.
    • Go to Settings > Storage, and then tap Make more space.

Then, tap Music to choose music files to delete. Or tap Gallery to choose photos and videos to delete.

Sometimes the notification LED doesn't light up. Why is that?

Sometimes the notification LED doesn't light up. Why is that?

The notification LED behavior changed in HTC’s Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update. If you updated your HTC phone to this version, the notification LED will show a flashing green light when there are pending notifications and the display is off.

To check and make sure there's no hardware problem with the notification LED, use the HTC Guide app. If this app is not preinstalled on your phone, you can download it from Google Play Store.

    1. Open the HTC Guide app.
    2. Tap Support > Phone Health (Diagnostics).
    3. Tap Hardware diagnostics > LED test.
    4. Tap Start.
    5. Check whether the notification LED alternately flashes green and orange. If it does, that means the LED is working just fine.
Another way is to use the HTC diagnostics tool which can be accessed through the Phone app. On the Phone keypad, enter *#*#3424#*#* (*#*#DIAG#*#*).

Will HTC BlinkFeed use up too much power and memory?

Will HTC BlinkFeed use up too much power and memory?

HTC BlinkFeed is optimized to work well on your phone without draining your battery or taking too much memory or RAM.

Even when you've set HTC BlinkFeed to update frequently, your battery usage is about the same as when you're browsing stuff on your phone. Also, RAM usage of HTC BlinkFeed is low. This, of course, depends on the number of feed sources you have selected in HTC BlinkFeed.

What's the auto-refresh schedule of HTC BlinkFeed?

What's the auto-refresh schedule of HTC BlinkFeed?

You can refresh HTC BlinkFeed anytime by manually pulling down on the screen. If you want feeds to auto-refresh, here's when HTC BlinkFeed automatically refreshes content:
    • If your phone is on Wi‍-Fi, HTC BlinkFeed refreshes content every hour.

Plug in your phone while connected to Wi‍-Fi and HTC BlinkFeed refreshes every fifteen minutes.

    • If you've set HTC BlinkFeed to auto-refresh using your mobile data or Wi‍-Fi connection, content will be refreshed every two hours when the phone uses data connection.
    • Some feeds from apps like Calendar may only happen once per day.

Updating content for the first time for newly added feeds may take a few minutes.

Why does the weather clock widget sometimes appear on HTC BlinkFeed, and sometimes it doesn't?

Why does the weather clock widget sometimes appear on HTC BlinkFeed, and sometimes it doesn't?

The weather clock widget doesn't show on HTC BlinkFeed by default. This is because the widget panel which is your main Home screen by default already has the weather clock widget.

Once you change HTC BlinkFeed to be your main Home screen, the weather clock widget will then show on HTC BlinkFeed. For details, see the topic about changing the main Home screen in the user guide or how-tos.
