Playing media that's stored on a media server

Browse photos, music, and videos stored remotely on a media server in your home network, and play them right on your phone. You can also easily switch the playback from your phone to another player in your home network.
Important: Before you start, make sure you've turned on Wi-Fi on your phone and connected to your home network.
  1. On the Start screen, tap .
  2. Tap Connected Media.
  3. Slide left or right to choose whether you'd like to browse music, videos, or photos on your phone.
  4. Tap media servers under music, video, or photo, and then tap the server name.
  5. Navigate to the location or category which contains the media that you want.
  6. Tap the media that you want to play. Your phone then shows the playback screen and plays the media.
  7. Use the playback buttons onscreen to control the playback.
  8. To switch the playback from your phone to another player in your home network, tap , choose a player, and then tap .
