Rated 5 out of 5Â by Kel91 HTC One S Review
To begin with, I shall start by saying that the exterior appearance of the HTC One S is slick, slim and very attractive to the eye. The HTC One X was just a bit too big for my hands so being able to get a smaller version of the handset is a treat.
In terms of the super AMOLED screen the phone possesses, I really can not complain at all. The depth of colour is simply beautiful. It is a very large improvement and obvious difference compared to my previous handset from Sony Ericsson's Xperia range.
The sound quality can not be complained about, coming from a large music enthusiast, It is vital that music should have great bass and clear vocals, non of that muggy bass or tinny sound. Beats Audio is a very effective enhancer, however to benefit from the enhancer, earphones or headsets need to be plugged in. I only have the standard htc ear pieces that came from the device, but all I can say is if the sound is that impressive with standard earphones, I'm excited to listen to my music once I own a pair of Beats earphones.
The overall performance of the HTC One S is simply remarkable. Anything I want to do or open on the handset is done pretty much instantly, there are no delays in command and texting is hassle free. It can take some time getting used to auto correct if you are not use to it like myself but by time, I mean a few days to a week. It is actually extremely helpful and it is still easy to use slang or abbreviated language as it does give you an easy option to stick with what you originally typed and will then store that word in its vocabulary memory.
Yes the battery life 'isn't that good' however we have to remember that we are in a generation of very smart phones that can do so much so what can we expect? We can't have such a wonderful device and expect it to last over night or for days. It is simply unrealistic and as far as battery life goes, I am pretty darn impressed with the battery life considering it is a highly powered device.
Overall The HTC One S is an absolute delight and pleasure to use.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Lukaszz would be great if not flawed by irritating issues
Generally it would be a great product, it is super fast, super slim and have outstanding build quality. Android 4.0 is just awsome, it's fast and offers lots of great apps, multitasking works like charm. Games, even most demanding work fast and smooth. I tried video calls over Google Hangouts and these are great too. The camera is almost ideal, it have a tendency to overcast in some situations, otherwise it is really great, gives good photos.
I'm giving 3 stars because of the issues I mentioned, they are just ruining overall great experience, otherwise it would be full 5.
Now the problems. The phone (At least mine) has some irritating flaws, one of them is widely known as "home button issue" but this one is even not the worst. The bigger issue for me is that sometimes cellular data connectivity drops and it doesn't go back even when being in maximum cellular network signal area. Turning cellular data off/on or going to plane mode and back does not help, still network does not work, well the icon says there is connection, just no data is being sent/recieved.
Another issue is that the bottom touch buttons often lock and stop working. When this happens you are stucked in the app you have open, cannot switch between apps or go to home screen. Pressing power button (going to sleep) and then pressing it again and unlocking the phone helps, and the buttons are alive again.

Recently bought this phone and found that it is one of the best phone I ever had. HTC is a multinational company and has always maintained a standard. Jelly bean has also started rolling out for this phone so one can have test of latest android software.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Almi1 Impressive phone let down by poor battery and materials
I've had my One S for 3 months now and have been very impressed by the camera and being able to take pics and shoot clips at the same time.
It's quick and good for internet browsing, I like the size as iPhone is not wide enough for me and One X/Samsung S3 are too wide for my hands.
My 2 biggest let downs are-
- the battery life is awful, especially as the battery is sealed inside, so I can't even carry a spare with me - bad bit of designing for a smart phone.
- I have taken care of my phone and have a case but already my phone casing is scratched and the back even has exposed metal now - I'm not happy at all, the One S isn't a cheap phone, these issues have sadly taken the shine off an otherwise good phone.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Ozzie29 Amazing Device but Jelly Bean needs to come.
This device is a great device. For the price, there isn't a better phone to get for a new smartphone user.
-The one s has some nice features but i rated 4 stars because i know that jelly bean will add more great features to the phone and until then it is 4 stars.
-Sense 4 is a much easier UI to get used to than other android UI's like touch wiz and windows.
-The battery on my One s is much better than the battery on other top phones like the Note 2 and the Galaxy 3. Not having a full HD screen isn't to bad because it conserves battery. The super amoled screen is beautiful either way.
-The design of the phone is probably my favorite, the color and material is beautiful and the curves make the phone fit in my hand.
-The dual core 1.5 GHz processor's Performance is powerful and smooth. Some lag on intense 3D games is one major reason for giving 4 stars on performance.
Overall this phone is great. I would recommend it to anyone who likes stylish and smooth phones that can compete with many top of the line phones.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by ADAD Seriously amazing!
I bought this phone in October 2012 as I wanted a change from my old iPhone 3GS. I was obviously very excited and had been waiting for the iPhone 5 to be released for a long time (hence I'd been putting off buying a new phone), however its extremely high price tag and specs that I could have got on other phones, finally allowed me to realise that Apple wasn't the only way and that what I was buying for £600 I could have got for £300 if only I had chosen another brand. After much looking around, I decided to go for an HTC One S and I couldn't have been more impressed. Transitioning seemed daunting at first because I'd never used an Android phone before, however a week later I'd got to grips with all the tricks and features of it and was able to use the phone without any issues. The camera takes amazing pictures which is perfect for when you don't feel like taking your SLR out. The other thing is the processor, it's very fast and has never let me down even after hours of heavy gaming, not a single time I've had to reboot or has the phone crashed the apps I've used. My partner who was also an Apple fanboy got so much into my phone that I had to get him one for his birthday as he'd always be playing around with it and commenting on how much he loves it. So I suppose I'm a total HTC and Android convert. You definitely can get amazing things if you go past the fact it's not what everyone is buying. Just seek to be different and be open to trying something new, you will be rewarded and nicely surprised.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Carlitos389 Very poor design
The vibration on my One S stopped working so I send it to my provider for repair. Apparently it has water damage and they claim it's unrepairable and not covered by warranty. I have NEVER dropped my phone into any liquids, or spilled anything to it. Seems like just rain can damage the One S insides. This has never ever happened to me with any other mobile phones I've used in the past (13 years user). Horrible thing.
Also, the battery life is not great, the reception, quite poor (I travel all around the world and this is a constant), The casing is terribly designed (black model). it looses the paint that was meant to never come off just by, pretty much, looking at it, making it look old and used, loosing any value for resell.
You can't remove battery, internal storage is really low for a high end smartphone (all in one solution for the day to day). If you have a Mac, forget about having a decent and smooth experience communicating with it to send music, etc. HTC Sync Manager for Mac has to be the worst application I have ever used.
When I bought this, I didn't go for the fruit brand cause I trusted HTC on making great products. This was my second HTC. I had a Desire and despite a few things, I liked it. Guess what I've just bought today: A phone of the fruit brand... And I was considering the new HTC One as an upgrade for this... Jajaja
It obviously has very good things, but it doesn't compensate the waste of money.
I've always talked really good things about HTC and look now. Extremely dissapointed. Good bye HTC.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by AmyS Love it!
I adore my one s. it's so nice to use on a day to day basis. It feels fab to hold, so cool and has a good weight to it. The screen is a joy to watch things on, youtube etc. It never falters, moves smooth as silk while swiping and scrolling. I've had mine about a year now and it still keeps right up with the HTC ONE. The best phone I've ever had.

Rated 5 out of 5 Slim, Light and Sleek! What More Do You Need?
The HTC One S is a fantastic device, it has a fantastic camera, brilliant sound quality with beats audio and a stylish uni-body design. I've had my One S for a few months now and I wouldn't be without it. To me the One S would be a perfect phone for somebody who doesn't want an enormous device.
At 4.3 inches the screen size is absolutely perfect. The device fits in your hand comfortably because of it's good size. The quality of the screen is also good, colours are extremely vivid which means the screen is great for watching videos and viewing pictures. I must add that the clarity of the screen isn't perfect but that's understandable as the phone doesn't have a HD screen but it's extremely close.
One of the things that always strikes me when I use the One S after using another persons phone is how thin it is. The phone is literally one of the thinnest things you'll ever pick up!! To conclude this review, if you're looking for a phone that had a fantastic camera, great sound, decent screen and fantastic feel due to it's thin design then this is the phone for you!

Black HTC One S
When: September 2012
Why: HTC have created some great phone from the past like the HTC Hero to the HTC Sensation, HTC have create well made phones. This is one of the reason why I choose HTC is the build quality and the HTC One S is no different. Being one of the thinnest phone out of the One line, it is a great phone to handle, and it far from an ugly device. This phone did something new with the design and it has it's own unique feel.
The specs on this device is great for an midrange device and I have never had a major slowdown.
What is wrong:
Can be slippy without a case.
The black HTC One S is known to chipping around the edges of the device, which is normal from the this sort of manufacturing process.
The screen look rubbish compared to the HTC One X and the HTC One which.
Not a brilliant amount of memory, would of been nice to have an SD card slot.
Call quality personally was not as great as my Desire S which was a shame.
Sum up: This is a great mid range device which is not ugly and is well thought out, with just a few niggles. I am a very happy One S user.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Suj1 Brilliant device
I bought this phone the week it came out so I have had it for over a year. It has been functioning consistently well ever since.
The look and feel of the device is without a doubt one of the best. Its slim and with the metal unibody design it feels amazing.
When using the device I can have no complaints. I am a big fan of the Sense skin on HTC phones. It makes them so much better to use and their widgets are the best.
The battery is not outstanding but it does last the day with moderate usage.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by ccrama Best Phone... Ever
I got this phone the second day it came out on T-Mobile. It is EXTREMELY thin, light, and has a decent camera. The homescreens go blazing fast, and Sense 4 is actually pretty good. All the built-in HTC apps are pretty nice, but there is some bloatware from T-Mobile :/. The web-browser is really nice. When you double-tap, the text AND pictures move into a nice, readable line (kind of like IOS 5 reader). This phone does take a little getting used to (because of Android, not the phone itself). Also, I have used this phone for about thee weeks now and there are NO scratches(but to make sure i put a screen protector on). Finally the audio is AMAZING. The beats really make the bass come out and sometimes it sounds like a totally different song. Overall, I would TOTALLY recommend this phone to others.
AMAZING battery life (at least 12 hours of daily use)
No removable battery
No external storage :( (but it does come with 25 gigs of Dropbox ;))

Rated 4 out of 5Â by domineus The HTC One S may be a bit smaller than the One X, but it packs just as powerful as a punch
Android couldn't be more prevalent in the United States of America. Often, I find myself surrounded by Android devices; whether it is at school, at work, or even taking a recreational jog. That has unfortunately made it difficult for handset manufacturers to differentiate itself because Android has a huge following. Even HTC, who has had a fantastic 2011, is plagued with the issue of being just another Android device. Personally, coming from Windows Phone, the utterance and sea of Android made me silently groan because I thought it was an inferior OS. How could such a cacophony be so famous I thought. Despite my feelings, part of me was still intrigued and eager to try another Android device (it's the geek in me). But, there was no device on the market that truly drove me to try an Android phone. And then, HTC announced the One Series. And I was stunned. For the first time, I had a desire to try those lines of phones. And then it happened. Fedex knocked at my door and there it was: the HTC One S.
And I was giddy as I ripped apart the wrapping, frantically ripping open the box to see a wonderfully thin device. It was so thin, I had to look at the hardware specifications again to make sure it had everything as advertised (sure enough it did). It was shocking that the device was 4.3 inches because it felt so thin. It is definitely pocketable to the point to where the device won't make a significant budge. It is well constructed and shows the true innovation not seen by other handset manufacturers. The texture of the back is smooth, the phone is very snug in hand, and it truly feels fantastic. If that weren't enough, the slate industrial design couldn't be better. The phone honestly stands out in the sea of sameness. And yet, it is recognizable. Deep down, if you're familiar with HTC, you know this is their device, but it isn't the same as the others. It feels like a refreshing breath of fresh air that commands attention.
Powering on the One S for the first time blew me away. I was welcomed with a bright and vibrant Super Amoled display that had this amazing array of color and vibrance that had me in awe. Going through the menus to set up the HTC One S, and I realized two things. The first is the familiar prompts that is apart of HTC sense. Unlike the previous versions, you notice that going through the set up is painless. No annoying lockups, no freezes in menus. In essence, it is one of the most painless experiences I've ever had setting up a phone. The second thing I realized was I swept through the setup so I can explore the device. For the first time, I wanted to see how it worked.
I was welcomed to the homescreen but it was a bit different than before. The iconic bottom bar that defined HTC devices is gone, as is a lot of customizations that were on previous HTC devices to give a slimmer and less memory intensive user interface experience. Swiping through the menus are fast, everything is fluid, no random lockups, and in general very intuitive. A lot of users in the Android community often groan about company customization of Android's user interface and question why things like Sense UI still exists. But, I will be the first to dissent among that opinion to say I love HTC Sense. The new evolution is one that should be applauded and welcomed. The design is still similar to the past, but the slimmed down version makes an otherwise experience somewhat dull.
It was time to test the camera and I usually don't expect a phone camera to perform so well. 'Lo and behold, HTC's new imaging technology should be touted. Never in my life did I take such good images! I love the ability to take instant burst shots by holding down the on screen camera button. I love the quality of the images, and the ability to select the coveted low light option with ease. I love the bundled imaging effects provided by HTC before ever opening instagram. The quality of video is no slouch either. The phone records in 1080P and easily has the best recording quality I've seen on a mobile device.
In every aspect, the HTC One S performs admirably. Everything that a user can throw at the phone, it does it in an elegant and amazing way. From the design, the user interface, image quality, and a plethora of other things. Users in America will be hard pressed to find a better device on the T-Mobile network. In fact, I have stated constantly that the HTC One S is the best Android phone for T-Mobile and easily the second best Android device on the market (only being beaten by the HTC One X). For the first time, I can fully recommend an Android device without compromise. This is the best of the best on T-Mobile.
If I were you, I'd get it. And get it fast

The sound quality is just pure amazing with or wit out the beats headphones.... After the Samsung Galaxy S2 came out HTC noticed that they were behind so they stepped up to the game and made the 5 best phones of the year and one for each carrier!!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by KThakur Great phone
Finally a well-thought of phone by HTC which does not make me run to XDA to root and change the rom. Out of the box this phone is super powerful with excellent battery life. The camera software is simply a joy :) I did not give a full score for ease of use - this is only because of the changes made to Sense 4 UI. Though there are many good things bout Sense 4 and yes it is closer to the stock UI the "user" aspect could've been given a little more thought.
Overall the only thing lacking in this phone is it's big brother's (HTC One X) screen resolution. Other than that, this phone is SOLID!

Phone is good but the Bluetooth doesn't work in my 2012 Terrain. It connect for 20-30 seconds then disconnects. 5 minutes later it reconnects then disconects. Makes it hard to use hands-free calling - you would figure HTC would have worked out the details before introducing to the market. I would like to send my phone back for a refund, please.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Alo12 1st Smart Phone & Won't Go Back
This is my 1st smart phone and it has EVERYTHING I need (my wife has the old 3G Smart phone). The processing speed is wonderful in comparison to 3G and 3.5G phones and comparable, if not better, to many other recent 4G Phones. The camera makes it that I don't need a Point & Shoot anymore (fast and great quality with variable features and controls). The voice recognition has a high fidelity and the audiobeats speaker is nice. I thought I was going to hate texting w/o actual buttons, but I luv texting using either my voice or the swipe feature. The screen is nice and large for video playback and has great contrast, color, and brightness. Plenty of free apps to enjoy. I love that I can make Wi-fi calls without using my minutes.
NEGATIVES: I wish I could lower the volume normal speaker more. Speakerphone quality is not the best. Battery life is a bit tricky like every other smart phone...kill those apps that are not in use.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by clumsey Wonderful :D
So first of all I'm super impressed with beats audio on speaker and even my cheapo earbuds from the check out isle. And Omg the camera is amazing, honestly the best camera on a phone I've seen so far. The Android 4.0 ICS was actually one of the main reasons for getting this phone since its one of t-mobile's few phones with it, and so far im extremely impressed, I love the face unlock feature and the UI is just so easy to use. The one thing I miss from the Mytouch 4G is the genius button, if HTC had something similar on all their phones that would be great seeing as how apple has siri and samsung is coming out with s-voice. After a full day of playing, texting, calling, video calling, and music plating its still at about half battery so no complaints there :) It is quite a beautiful phone, the color and the slim design is great and I've gotten so many remarks about how thin it is. I love this phone and so far its survived all of the times i've dropped it (oops)

Rated 4 out of 5Â by SLoSHaPPy Great phone minus two details...
I'll make this short and sweet... The phone is amazing, I replace my phone every couple of months but I don't think I will have to for a while with this one. The audio is amazing, beats audio by Dre is very cool feature. The camera, and processor AMAZING. But today put of the blue I lost connection to the data network with no fix available, I happened to score the one faulty handset in the store so I had to take it back and get a new one, but with all of the cool features this phone has I was back with all my contacts, pictures, even notes 5 minutes after turning the phone on so in that respect I'm very pleased because I have over 1000 contacts and I was going to be really upset to have to transfer them manually. But in my conversation with tech support I found out this phone has a flaw in the operating system that they did not make me aware of in the store when buying the phone that made me upset, its nothing major but the phone when out of stand-by it jumps from 4g to 2g a lot without provocation and they are aware of the problem but HTC has now estimate when they will have the problem fixed. Again nothing major but I think they should let yo. know of these problems when you purchase the phone in the store. But all in all probally one of the greatest phones I've personally owned, and I've been thru the iPhone phase and all the big name phones, none have impressed me like the speed and reliability of this phone.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by DonGemus Great phone but fragile
This phone is very thin and the response is snappy. I have no performance issues even when switching between multiple apps. Ice Cream Sandwich is also very good, I would say currently it is the best mobile OS. You also get Chrome on ICS which is the first full browser experience I've had on a mobile OS. I watch Amazon prime videos all the time on this phone.
A couple annoyances like the power button is hard to hit and the charging port is touchy aren't noticeable after a couple weeks.
The major problem is the screen is very prone to shattering. My wife's shattered from a very short fall. There are also many similar reports on craigslist and android forums. Make sure you get a case because this thing can't take even a short fall naked.
