How can I set up a custom tone for SMS, MMS, email, etc.? more
Your device supports .wav files for custom alerts.
To set an Audio file as your Alert:
ActiveSync:
Using ActiveSync, select "Explore".
Open the "Windows Mobile-based device"
Open the "Windows" Folder.
Drag and drop file into the "Windows" folder.
To set the file as your tone, go to Start>Settings>Sounds>Ringtone>Select file from the list.

Windows Mobile Device Center:
Using WMDC, select "File Management" and "Browse the contents of your device".
Open the Application Data Folder.
Locate and open the "Sounds" folder.
Drop the file into the "Sounds" Folder.
To set the file as your tone, go to Start>Settings>Sounds>Ringtone>Select file from the list.
From and SD Card:
On your device, go to Start>Programs>Tools>File Explorer.
Locate the file.
Highlight the file and tap Men>Edit>Copy.
Navigate to and open the "Application Data" Folder.
Open the "Sounds" folder.
Tap Menu>Edit>Paste.
To set the file as your tone, go to Start>All Programs>Settings>Sounds>select the category>Select file from drop down.
Windows Media Player won't recognize all of the music files that I loaded on my device, why? more
Your device will only recognize files types that it supports. Below are the supported file types:
Video format supported: WMV, ASF, MP4, AVI, and RM Real Media.
Audio format supported: AMR, AAC, WAV, WMA, MP3
If your device is not recognizing the files, your library may need to be updated. Go to Start>Programs>Windows Media>Menu>Update library. This will start a scan that will look for all audio files on the device and update the library to show all compatible files.

To set an Audio file as your ringtone:
