How do I view all applications on my phone? more

To view all applications on your phone, tap the All Apps icon (tiled squares) in the bottom-left corner of your screen.

How do I use the application shortcuts on the lock screen? more

In order to use the application shortcuts on the lock screen, drag the application shortcut to the middle of the ring at the bottom of the lock screen then release. This will unlock the screen and launch the application you chose.

What is Adobe Reader and how do I use it? more

Adobe Reader is an application that allows you to view PDF files on your phone. You can read PDF attachments, PDF files from the internet or PDF files that you have downloaded to your SD Card.

Adobe Reader will automatically search for All PDF files on your phone. Select the PDF file you want to read and it will open it. You can zoom in or out by double-tapping the screen or using a pinch-to-zoom gesture.

What features are included in Calendar? more

Calendar allows you to view multiple calendars from different sources (Exchange, Facebook, Google and personal). You can view your calendar by agenda, day, week, or month. You can add events to each different calendar. You can also invite people to meetings.

  • To add a new calendar item, go to All apps > Calendar. Tap the plus (+) button in the top-right corner.
  • To select which calendar you want to add the event to, in the New Event window, tap the button at the top and pick the calendar you wish to add the event to from the pop-up.
  • To add someone to the meeting, tap the To field under the calendar name and type the desired meeting recipients. Alternatively, tap the People icon to the right of the To field and select attendees from your address book by checking the box(es) next to the contact name(s). Tap Done when finished selecting recipients.
  • To set a location for your event you can enter an address or you can use maps to select a location by tapping the button next to the Event Location field.
  • Once all desired fields are filled out, select Save
What is Call history and how do I use it? more

Call History is application that lists all your incoming, outgoing and missed calls.

To sort your call history

  1. From the Home screen, tap the All apps button.
  2. Tap Call history.
  3. Press the Menu key.
  4. Tap View.
  5. Select which item you would like to view and your call history will filter out the rest.
What is Camcorder? more

Camcorder allows you to record videos using your phone’s camera. See the Multimedia category for more information.

What options are available in the Clock application? more

Clock gives you access to multiple useful utilities, such as a Desk Clock view, World Clock, Alarm Clock, Stopwatch and Timer. You can switch between these utilities using the icons at the bottom of the screen.

What is Connected Media and how do I use it? more

This is an application that allows you to play pictures, music and videos stored on your phone or on a media server to DLNA supported device such as a TV, Music player or even speakers. To access Connected Media, tap the All apps button and then tap Connected Media.

What is Cyberon Voice Commander and how do I use it? more

Cyberon Voice Commander is an application that allows you to voice activated commands to perform tasks like placing a call, opening an application, ask time and more. To use it from the Home Screen press the All Programs tab > select Cyberon Voice Commander > say a specified command like Call John

What is Dock Mode? more

Dock Mode is an interface that brings commonly used applications into one area, providing quick and easy to read access to the clock, weather and FriendStream updates. There are also quick access shortcuts to Photo Frame, Connected media and Calendar. When using a supported desktop dock, the Dock Mode interface will display automatically.

NOTE: To exit Dock Mode, select the X icon in the bottom-left.

What is Downloads? more

Downloads is an interface where you can quickly access files you have downloaded from the internet. To switch the sorting method to more easily locate your files, press Menu and select Sort by size or Sort by time.

What is Flashlight and how do I use it? more

The Flashlight application allows you to you’re the flash on your phone as a flashlight. It has 3 different modes.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the All apps button.
  2. Tap Flashlight.
  3. Tap Menu.
  4. Tap Select mode.
    • Manual: Allows you to adjust the brightness by pressing the power (low, medium, high)
    • SOS: Allows you to use your flashlight as a visual distress signal.
    • Auto flash: Alternates On/Off on your flashlight
How does the FM Radio work? more

In order to use the FM Radio, you must first plug in headphones into the 3.5mm headphone jack. The headphones are used as an antenna, allowing the application to scan the FM airwaves and record any available channels. You can also set your favorite channels to quickly access them later. To exit the FM Radio application, tap the power icon on the upper-right of your screen.

NOTE: If you unplug your headphones, the FM Radio will automatically turn off.

What is FriendStream and how do I access it? more

This application provides status updates from your Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr accounts in one place (after you have set each up on your phone) and can also broadcast a single comment simultaneously to Facebook and Twitter.

To set up your Facebook, Twitter or Flickr accounts to use with FriendStream:

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Accounts & sync.
  4. Tap Add account.
  5. Tap Facebook for HTC Sense / Twitter for HTC Sense. Follow the instructions to set up or create your accounts.
How do I post a tweet on Twitter? more

There are two ways to post a Tweet from your phone:

FriendStream

  1. From the Home screen, tap the All apps key.
  2. Tap FriendStream.
  3. Tap the What’s on your mind? field.
  4. Enter your status update and then tap Post.

Twitter

  1. From the Home screen, tap the All apps button.
  2. Tap Twitter.
  3. Tap the What’s on your mind? field.
  4. Enter your status update and then tap Share.
How do I disconnect a social networking account from my phone? more
  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Accounts & Sync.
  4. Tap the listing for the social networking account you want to remove and then tap Remove account.
What is Gallery and how do I use it? more

Gallery is an application that allows you to view and manage your pictures and videos on your phone. See the Multimedia category for more information.

What is Gmail? more

The Gmail application is used to manage the email associated to the default Google account on your phone, and is designed to have many of the same features as the Gmail website. Once you have set up your default Google account, this application will automatically be configured.

NOTE: You can set up additional Gmail accounts in the Mail application, however you will not have the same feature set as is available for your default account.

What is Google search? more

Google search allows you search Google with text message using text input and or voice.

What is GPS Navigator and how do I use it? more
It is paid navigation service offered by Telenav and Bell. It offers a voice guided navigation using data services.
What is HTC Hub? more

HTC Hub is an online store that allows you to download and install apps, widgets, ringtones, etc. intended for your phone from HTC. An HTC Sense account is required in order to access this application.

What is HTC Likes? more

HTC Likes gives you an alternate method to access applications from the Android Market. Each application in HTC Likes has its own review from HTC, and promotes them based on the amount of ‘likes’ each application receives. You can also view applications tagged by your HTC Sense friends. When selecting Install on an application, you will be redirected to that application’s page on the Android Market.

An HTC Sense account is required in order to access this application.

What is Internet? more

Internet is the standard web browser for Android. The web browser supports full Flash 10 and HTML 5 viewing. You can also open multiple browser windows. See the Connectivity and Internet category for more information.

What is Kobo? more
Kobo is an application that allows you to easily buy and read eBooks.
What is Latitude and how do I use it? more

Latitude allows you to see your friend’s location on a map. You can track who is going where as long as they have added you to their latitude list. Select your friends for real time updates of their locations.

NOTE: This application uses a large amount of data.

What is Lets Golf 2? more

What is Mail? more

The Mail application allows you configure and view your email. See the Email category for more information.

What is Maps? more

Maps is a mobile version of Google Maps. See the GPS category for more information.

What is Market? more

Market is the application that provides access to the Android Market. Market offers both Free and Paid applications for Android users. When downloading content from Market, be aware that the applications offered have not been tested by HTC or your mobile operator and that all Market application support is the responsibility of the Developer of that application; not HTC or your mobile operator.

To access Market, you will need an active Google account (Gmail username/password). If a Google account has not been set up when you first access Market, you will be prompted to set one up before continuing.

How do I download free games or applications with Android Market? more
  1. From the Home screen, tap the All apps button.
  2. Tap the Market icon.
  3. If required, tap Accept to accept the Android Market Terms of Service.
  4. Tap Apps.
  5. Tap All applications, or the desired application category.
  6. Tap Top free to view free applications.
  7. Tap the desired application.
  8. Tap Install.
  9. If required, tap OK on the message about application access.
How do I download paid games or applications with Android Market? more
  1. From the Home screen, tap the All apps button.
  2. Tap the Market icon.
  3. If required, tap Accept to accept the Android Market Terms of Service.
  4. Tap Apps.
  5. Tap All applications, or the desired application category.
  6. Verify that Top Paid is selected.
  7. Tap the desired application.
  8. Tap Buy.
  9. If required, tap OK on the message about application access.
  10. Enter your credit card information and billing address.
  11. Tap Buy now: $x.xx.
How do I delete or uninstall games or applications with Android Market? more
  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Applications.
  4. Tap Manage applications.
  5. Tap the application that you want to delete.
  6. Tap Uninstall.
  7. Tap OK.
  8. Tap OK again.
How do I Troubleshoot Android Market Connections? more

If applications are stuck in a "Starting Download" state when installing from the Market, the connection with the Market service may need to be restored.

  1. Open the Phone dialer.
  2. Enter *#*#checkin#*#*
    Note: You should see *#*#2432546#*#*
  3. The dialer entry will become blank, and then you should receive a notification in the notification bar confirming the connection.
  4. Return to the Market and the applications should begin downloading as normal.
What is Messages? more

Messages is the application used to send and receive text (SMS) or multimedia (MMS) messages. See the Messaging category for more information.

What is Mirror? more

Mirror uses the front-facing camera to allow you to check your appearance as if you were looking in a mirror.

What is Music? more
Music allows you to browse, sort and play music stored on your SD card. See the Multimedia category for more information.
What is N.O.V.A. 2 HD? more

NOVA 2 HD is a First person shooter game. The demo is pre-installed. However, you will need to purchase and download the full game.

What is Navigation? more

Navigation is Google’s voice guided navigation software. It uses your existing data plan for map data. See the GPS category for more information.

What is News? more

News is an HTC Sense application that allows you to read updates from RSS news feeds.

What is News & Weather? more

News & Weather is the default news reader for Android, aggregating articles from the Google news service. You can switch between news categories using the tabs at the top of the screen.

What is People? more

People is your contact management application. See the Contacts category for more information.

How do I view my Social Networking contacts in People? more

You can choose to view your social networking contacts (such as Facebook or Twitter) in the People application, which will then allow you to search those accounts for contact information, view status updates, comment on Facebook Walls and more.

To view these contacts from within the People application, press the Menu key, tap View, check the accounts you would like to see and then tap Done.

What is Phone? more

Phone is the application allowing you to make and receive phone calls and view call logs. See the Phone category for more information.

What is Places? more

Places is Google’s Point of Interest application. See the GPS category for more information.

What is Polaris Office? more

Polaris Office comes pre-loaded on the phone and can be used to open and view office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) received in email as attachments or stored on the SD Card. See the General and Other category for more information.

What is Quick Lookup? more

Quick Lookup is an HTC application that allows you to perform a search for any of the following services from the same interface: Google Search, Wikipedia, YouTube, Google Translate, Google Dictionary. You can choose which service to search with by selecting the icons at the bottom of your screen.

What is Remote PVR? more

Remote PVR is an application  exclusive to Bell that you to access your highlightsBell PVR at home and remotely record your favorite shows. To access Bell PVR, go to All programs (button on the lower-left of the screen) > Bell PVR.

What is self serve? more
Self serve is a Bell application that shows your Bell mobility account details such as usage history, rate plan, add features, contest details and more. It also allows you to pay your bill using credit card payment.
What is Settings? more

Settings gives you all of the options to configure and personalize your phone, including Wireless & networks, Security, and Privacy. See the Settings category for more information.

NOTE: You can also access the Settings menu from the Home screen by pressing the Menu key and tapping Settings.

What is Setup? more

Setup is an application goes through the initial setup process of your phone. It allows you to pick your language, transfer contacts from an older phone, and set up a data connection, email and your social networks.

What is SoundHound? more

SoundHound is a music recognition application. When a song is playing near the phone, simply start the scanner and SoundHound will search the database and identify the song if found. SoundHound also links to the Amazon MP3 store to purchase music tracks.

What is Stocks? more

Stocks is an HTC Sense application powered by Yahoo! Finance that allows you to easily view stock trends and review your portfolio’s performance.

What is Top HD games? more
View the top HD games from Gameloft. Purchase and download the games directly to your phone.
What is Talk? more

Talk is a Google application that allows you to chat with your Google contacts. See the Messaging category for more information.

What is Task Manager? more

Task Manager is an HTC Sense application that allows you to quickly view which applications are running in the background and how much memory each application is using. You can quickly end a running application by tapping the X button next to the application, or you can tap Kill all to stop all running applications.

What is Teeter? more

Teeter is a fun game for HTC Sense phones, where you tilt the phone to control a ball through a course while trying to avoid the traps.

What is Transfer? more

Transfer Data is an HTC application that assists you with transferring contact, SMS messages and calendar events from an old phone to your HTC phone. This transfer is done via Bluetooth and has been proven to work with devices from Apple, Blackberry, HTC, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson although it may work with other devices from other manufacturers.

What is Tunes & Apps? more

This is a mobile operator specific application that provides access to the mobile operator Download store on the device so that users can purchase and download media directly on the device.

What is TV & Radio and how do I access it? more
This is your mobile operator specific application that provides access to your mobile operator TV & Radio; your mobile operator TV & Radio provides access to Live TV and Radio.

Note: TV automatically plays in Landscape mode for a better viewing experience.
To access, from the Home screen, select the All programs (button on the lower-left of the screen) > TV & Radio.
What is Voice Recorder? more

Voice Recorder allows you to record a voice note using your phone. Once you have recorded and saved a voice note, you can choose to share it using Messaging, Email, Gmail or Bluetooth.

What is Voice Search? more

Voice search allows you to perform multiple voice activated functions such as:
“Send text to john, when is our meeting?” or “Navigate to Vancouver, BC”
You can select Help in the Voice Search screen to find out more voice activated functions.

How do I access voice commands on the phone? more

You can use voice commands on your handset by launching the Voice Dialer and Voice Search applications from the All apps menu. You can also quickly launch the voice command utility by pressing and holding the Search key (magnifying glass) from any menu.

What is HTC Watch? more

HTC Watch™ is an HTC Sense application that allows you to purchase or rent movies and TV shows so you can watch them on your phone. A Watch account and a major credit card are required to purchase content. See the Watch category for more information.

What is Weather? more

Weather is an HTC Sense application that allows you to see the current day and 5-day weather forecast. You can save up to 7 different locations, including one that will automatically update based on your location.

How do I set up the Weather application so that my local weather information is displayed? more

In order to have the Weather information update automatically as you change locations, the Location setting needs to be enabled for GPS. You are prompted to select this option during the initial set up of the phone. If need be, these settings can also be manually changed:

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Location.
  4. Tap to check Use GPS Satellites.
What is Wi-Fi Hotspot? more

Wi-Fi Hotspot is an application that allows you to wirelessly share your phones internet with up to 8 other Wi-Fi enabled devices. See the Connectivity and Internet category for more information.

What is YouTube? more

The YouTube application gives you access to YouTube video content, specially formatted for your Android phone. You can access your YouTube channel by pressing the Menu key, tapping My channel and then logging in using your Google or YouTube account.

What is Zoompass and how do I access it? more
Zoompass is an application that allows you to send and receive money to your phone. You need to a Zoompass account to be able to utilize the features it offers.
How do I install applications that are not in the Android Market? more

To enable installation of non-Market applications, you must first enable applications from unknown sources.

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Applications.
  4. Tap to check Unknown sources. Once this is enabled, install the application as directed by the developer’s Web site.
How do I switch between running programs? more

Press and hold the Home button from any screen to show the recently accessed programs, and then tap the icon for the program you want to bring back into view.

How do I stop applications from running in the background? more

Your phone has two methods of managing memory and stopping applications:

  1. Task Manager – Accessible in the All apps menu, or by opening the Notifications bar, tapping Quick Settings tab, and then tapping Total Memory.
  2. Running Services
           a. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
           b. Tap Settings.
           c. Tap Applications.
           d. Tap Running Services.
How do I uninstall applications that I downloaded to the phone? more

You can only uninstall applications that have been downloaded on to the phone.

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Applications.
  4. Tap Manage applications.
  5. On the Downloaded tab, tap on the application that you wish to uninstall.
  6. Tap Uninstall.
How can I install an application I downloaded from my pc to my phone? more

To enable the manual installation of an application, you must first enable applications from unknown sources (see the How do I install applications that are not in the Android Market? FAQ). Next, you must make sure that the installer is an .apk file, as this is the only file type that can be installed on the Android OS.

After you have downloaded the installation file to your computer, use the micro USB cable to connect the phone to your computer. When prompted, choose Disk drive as the connection type on your phone. On your computer, go to the newly mounted Removable Disk and then copy the file to the microSD card. Once the transfer is finished, disconnect your phone from your computer.

In order for you to be able to access the file and install it on your phone, you will need a file manager application installed. From the Home screen, tap the All apps button, tap Market and search for the keyword “file manager.” Locate and download a file manager application.

Using your file manager, open the folder where you copied the file. Tap the installation file then tap Install. Once the application is installed, it will be available in your All apps menu.
How do I install applications on my micro SD card? more

By default, all applications on the handset are installed to the phone memory. An application can only be moved to the micro SD card if it was designed by the developer to have that function. To move applications to the micro SD card:

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Applications.
  4. Tap Manage applications.
  5. Tap on the application that you want to install on the micro SD card then tap Move to SD card.

NOTE 1: If the Move to SD card option is grayed out, this means that the application does not have the capability to be installed on the micro SD card. Please contact the developer for support details.

NOTE 2: You will not be able to use the applications on the micro SD card if the handset is connected to a computer and in Disk drive mode.

NOTE 3: Applications installed on the micro SD card will only work on the phone the application was downloaded to. If the card is moved to a different device, the application will not show up in the All apps menu.
How do I enable automatic updating for my applications? more
  1. From the home screen, press the All apps button
  2. Tap Market.
  3. Tap Menu.
  4. Tap My apps.
  5. Tap the application you want to automatically update, and then tap to check Allow automatic updating.
