What could be causing my phone to get a poor GPS signal? more
The GPS signal cannot pass through solid, non-transparent objects. Signal reception may be affected by obstructions such as high-rise buildings, tunnels, bridges, forests, weather (rainy or cloudy days), etc.
How do I turn the GPS on? more

Press Home > Menu and then tap Settings > Location. Select Use wireless networks and Enable GPS satellites.

To conserve battery power, disable GPS when not in use. The easiest way to do this is to:

Touch and hold the Home screen.

Select Widget.

Select the Power Control Widget and add it to one of your Home Screens.

You can then use this widget to quickly access your GPS settings.
