Opportunity:
HTC is looking for a User Interface Technology Program Manager in the
Industry & University Collaboration Team of the Corporate Strategy
Office (CSO). The User Interface Technology Program Manager will
coordinate and manage several concurrent technology projects that are
collaborations between HTC industry partners and university partners.
The applicant will work with small teams of cross-functional technical
experts in technology areas that include Communications &
Networking, Web Services, Content & Delivery, Application Software,
High Performance Platforms, Physical Technologies, and User Interface.
The qualified candidate will have strong leadership, organization, and
communications\presentation skills in addition to demonstrated knowledge
of engineering\technology and prototype development processes.
Job responsibilities:
The User Interface Technology Program Manager will coordinate and manage
software-oriented collaboration projects targeted to specific
technology areas of interest. The candidate will work with members of a
cross-functional team that includes both HTC internal experts and
external industry and university experts to drive specific innovations
in high-value areas. The candidate should be self-driven, organized,
creative, and be able to work in a high uncertainty environment under
minimal supervision with tight and shifting deadlines.
The successful candidate will have:
- Various input method experience for mobile devices
- Electro-mechanical component hardware & software interfaces
- Human Systems Integration (HSI) experience
- Experience in developing innovative interaction methods between user & device
- Conduct research in developing software solutions for integration of user experience into mobile devices
- Graph based methods in machine learning
- Understanding of shallow natural language processing
- Experience with user interface using software like Flash or equivalent
- Strong project management skills – with emphasis on new technology development. Focus will be on high risk\high return approaches – versus safe low risk solutions.
- Experience with resource planning and tracking tools.
- Strong ability to plan for, coordinate, and lead a team of technical staff that is both internal to HTC and external to HTC.
- Experience with working with sponsored university projects with particularly strong skills with scoping, regular oversight, and extraction of key intellectual property that results.
- Software Systems Engineering experience with demonstrable skills in mobile phone software development including device drivers, operating system kernel, operating system framework, and application development.
- Knowledge of prototype\product development processes.
- Capability to act as an interface between high-level management, product planners, industrial designers, and technical experts.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task – project managing multiple simultaneous small projects.
- Experience leading the designing, modeling, and building of complex product systems with multiple interoperability constraints.
- Flexibility for travel (domestic and international) to customer, vendor, and other HTC facilities for technical support, oversight, and negotiation.
- BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering as well as a minimum of 2 years project management experience in software development.
