HTC Notes EOL

After updating your phone to Android 5.0 Lollipop, HTC Notes will unfortunately not work correctly. We’re trying to solve the issue, and apologize deeply to anyone who has been unable to access Notes. Service for HTC Notes will be discontinued, but in order to help you continue viewing and editing your notes from HTC Notes, we have collaborated with Evernote to help you export your old HTC Notes files to an Evernote account. If you’ve had trouble exporting your notes, please see the troubleshooting tips below.

If you’re still having trouble after trying these tips, we will provide an update at the end of April that helps you continue viewing your old notes by converting notes to HTML format. If you haven’t exported notes to Evernote yet, you’ll be able to convert all your files to HTML. If you tried to export your notes, but it didn’t work correctly, you’ll be able to convert the files that you couldn’t export to HTML as well.

How to troubleshoot sync issues between HTC Notes and Evernote

If you run into issues while moving your HTC Notes over to Evernote, please start by following these steps.

Step 1 – Check the sync options in your phone’s Settings

  • 1. Go to your phone’s Settings and tap “Accounts & sync”
  • 2. Tap on the option to “Sync Notes with Evernote”
  • 3. Tap on the three dots, and then tap on the option to “Sync now”
  • 4. Give it a bit of time, then check to see if your notes synced with your Evernote account.

Step 2 – Check that you’re signed in to the right Evernote account

You may have already had an Evernote account and exported your HTC Notes to a new Evernote account by accident. To check, download Evernote for Android and attempt to sign in with any email address that you might have used as an Evernote account sign in.

If you can sign in to your Evernote account, then check to see if your notes have been successfully exported. If you can’t see your notes after signing in, then continue to Step 3.

If you know you have an Evernote account, but are having trouble signing in, then you can follow the “Forget Password” link on the sign in page of the Evernote app.

Step 3 – If you can sign in to Evernote, but none of your notes appears, then follow these steps

  • 1. Go to your phone’s settings and tap “Accounts & sync”
  • 2. Tap on the option to “Sync Notes with Evernote”
  • 3. Tap on the three dots, and then tap on the option to “Remove”
  • 4. Chose “Remove account” in the pop-up dialog box
  • 5. Return to the HTC Notes app
  • 6. Tap “YES” in the pop-up dialog box asking to “Export Notes to Evernote”
  • 7. Choose “Sign in,” then enter your email address and password for Evernote
  • 8. Tap “YES” in the pop-up dialog box asking to “Install Evernote”
