Cher Wang, Chairwoman, HTC and VIA Technologies
Cher Wang has established a number of successful IT-related businesses, including founding VIA Technologies, Inc. in 1987 and co-founding HTC Corporation in 1997. She is currently Chairwoman of both companies, and holds leadership roles in numerous other enterprises and organizations.
Cher is active in the international business community, participating as an Industry Partner at the World Economic Forum and as a member of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC). In 2010, Cher co-founded the ABAC Women’s Forum to identify capacity-building policy recommendations that enhance opportunities for women in business, and to hold outreach activities within APEC economies.
Cher’s business achievements have been widely acclaimed in major international media. In 2011, she received the 20th spot on both Forbes’ and Fortune’s annual ‘most powerful women’ lists.
Cher graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a devout Christian. She is married with two children.
Founder of HTC Foundation and Board Member
HT Cho is the Co-founder of HTC and currently sits on the Board of Directors. HT is the Chairman and Founder of the HTC Foundation, a philanthropic organization that supports and promotes a number of programs in education, character development and cross-cultural awareness. By helping educators, parents, students and public officials focus on character building, the HTC Foundation hopes to build caring communities where strong values, teamwork and positive thinking can flourish.
To date, the Foundation has funded leadership training courses for over 13,000 elementary, secondary and post-secondary teachers and administrators in Taiwan. The Foundation has been recognized by Yuli Township in Hualien County in December 2006 and Longtan Township in Taoyuan County in June 2007 for promoting “Township Character” plans. These plans promote character development for officials working in township offices, police stations, public hospitals, fire brigades and other public sector positions.
Before founding HTC, HT worked for the Digital Equipment Corporation from 1975 to 1996, ultimately serving as Head of Taiwan Engineering. Prior to dedicating himself to the HTC Foundation, HT served as President of HTC from 1997 to 2004 and was CEO from 2004 to 2005. His hard work, dedication, and passion for excellence have helped HTC form a corporate culture and work environment that emphasizes integrity, innovation and quality.
HT graduated from the National Taipei Institute of Technology, majoring in Electronic Engineering.
Peter Chou, Chief Executive Officer
Peter Chou is HTC’s Chief Executive Officer and has been with the company since its establishment in 1997. Peter strongly believes in the values of entrepreneurship and innovation and, under his leadership, he has led the charge to establish HTC as a global smartphone brand.
With a vision for how mobile convergence could change how people live, Peter realized the tremendous potential of smartphones as he started to shape HTC’s culture of innovation more than a decade ago. Under his leadership, HTC has achieved many milestones, including the introduction of the world’s first Android and Windows Phone smartphones. Peter has also established strong relationships with the top mobile and technology companies including Google, Microsoft and Qualcomm, as well as the world’s leading mobile operators.
Regarded by many as a pioneer and visionary in the mobile industry, Peter has received numerous awards including Laptop Magazine’s #5 most influential mobile executive, the prestigious Wireless Week Leadership Award for extraordinary achievements in mobile communications and T3 Magazine’s #13 most influential technology executive. In addition, HTC was recognized as one of the top 100 global brands by Interbrand in 2011, and as one of the most innovative companies in the world by Fast Company Magazine and MIT Technology Review in 2010 and 2011.
Prior to joining HTC, Peter was a Director at Digital Equipment Corporation. He graduated with an Electronic Engineering degree from National Taiwan Ocean University in 1985 and holds an Executive MBA from National Chengchi University. He also is an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. In his spare time, Peter enjoys reading, appreciating all forms of art and listening to classical music.
Fred Liu, President of Engineering & Operations
Fred Liu is President of Engineering & Operations of HTC. He is responsible for steering the company’s continuing product development and operations, including directing hardware and software design, cloud services, procurement, manufacture and customer service. In recent years, he has worked to advance HTC’s customer centricity, corporate social responsibility and excellence in execution, to lead HTC into its next phase of growth and development.
Fred received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Tatung University. In his spare time Fred enjoys reading, traveling, and listening to classical music.
Chia-Lin Chang, President of Global Sales and Chief Financial Officer
Chia-Lin Chang serves as President of Global Sales and Chief Financial Officer of HTC, where he oversees the company's sales and distribution channels, corporate finance and accounting, strategic acquisitions and investments, and investor relations.
Chia-Lin joined HTC as Chief Financial Officer in April 2012 and was appointed as the President of Global Sales and Chief Financial Officer in December 2013. Previously Chia-Lin was from Goldman Sachs where he was a senior banker and partner, and also held cross-divisional responsibilities as head of Goldman Sachs Taiwan. Chia-Lin joined Goldman Sachs as an associate in 2002, and was named managing director in 2007 and partner in 2010. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Chia-Lin worked at Motorola, where he specialized in technology development in the U.S.
Chia-Lin graduated from National Tsing-Hua University in Taiwan, and earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Benjamin Ho, Chief Marketing Officer
Benjamin Ho is the Chief Marketing Officer of HTC. He assumed this role in January 2013, and is responsible for driving global marketing and brand strategies for HTC, with accountability for consumer marketing and planning, public relations, media, consumer insights, and marketing talent development.
Previously he served as Executive Vice President of Business Strategy and Marketing at Far EasTone Telecommunication, where he led the company’s marketing initiatives. While at Far EasTone telecommunication, Benjamin also served as Chairman of Data Express and a Board Director on the Conexus Mobile Alliance . He has served as Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Motorola Asia Pacific Ltd., as well as Director at BBDO Greater China, Dentsu and Young and Rubicam International.
Benjamin earned a Business Studies and Marketing Diploma at Stamford College in Singapore.
